worth of a 225dx/r

[4 wheels?]

There is a black 225dx or an r( i don't know the diffrence other than reverse) in uncle henrys for $450. New tires, looks in great shape. Says it leaks gas from the carb. It is close by(10 minutes roughly). Sounds like a deal. Might take a look but I want your guys opinions first. Plus I would need to scrounge up $450/

looks like an 85 225 dx, don't know about other parts of the country but here one in average condition will bring that, top dollar is probably around 600 again around here. i'd gather up some cash and offer him 4 bills if runs good and the rear end bearings are tight

Its an 84.The decal on the side cover give it away.

Do you know if it is a dx or a dr? Thanks for the year info. I will most likely look at it late this week or sat. It has been there for a little while so hopefully it won't get sold.

Thats a DX not a DR. I am almost 100% sure. 85 was the first year for the DR the DX was made in 84.

DR = Reverse
DX = NONE

When you go to look at it, look at the left side of the engine. If there is a lever coming out of the side of the engine it has reverse..

So I am almost positve that is the 1984 Yamaha 225DX Special Edition.
