FINALLY, I got the 84 250r done! WOW, what a wakeup call compared to the 86 200x! I cant keep the wheel on the ground 1st through 4th!
Had one problem after another including snapping off a jug stud trying to get it out for replacement.... had to take it to the machine shop.
Anyways...
.020 over Wiseco, new connecting rod and bearings; otherwise stock in great shape for $400 and $500 in parts labor and Ive got a great R for under $900.
It had a +2 I think swingarm on it but when I bought my swingarm bolt it came with the swingarm so I slapped on the stock swingarm. I tried "notching" the +2 swingarm to get the bearing holder cap off and its sawzall'ed pretty good - so I didnt use it. I can repair it and put it on later if I want.
What are the advantages of the longer swingrm?

The +2 swinger will help keep the front wheel down. Congrats on saving another fine machine from fading into obscurity. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Allright.... I will try to take some pics of the R tonight and Ill get a few of the swingarm. I hit it with the sawzall a little bit trying to get the old bolt, etc out but its nothing that couldnt be fixed.
Im not sure what it is... If I remember right I think a sticker on it says primary drive and its square/rectangular tubing.... very different from the stock one...

Im not sure who makes it but by the pic I saw of a Durablue it looks the exact same and used to be blue but was painted silver......

Whatever swingarm it is, it's sweet!
Move your little thumb away from the sawzall marks, lets see the carnage
