So tonight I decided to fabricate my own grab bar for my 225dx. I used 2 pieces of 1 1/2 inch flat bar and a round tube that was laying around in the garage. I plan to paint it black and weld shut the opening of the tubing and do some trimming at some place.
I think it look good. At least it will be way better than the old one:lol: . So what do you think. I think it was a long time since we had a poll on the board so vote if you approve or disapprove my metal work.

Half expect to see Paul Teutul Senior come round the corner and tell you to take it off then start an argument about how messy the shop is hehe

  And after the ''argument exchange'' don't forget that he will slap close the door of his office.
And the shop is not messy, ok.

If I'm able to bend the flat bar at the end of the round tubing like on the picture it won't look half bad.

I think you should fill the tube with concrete. That would just top this baby off lol.

I have a homemade grab bar on my 185 but it needs some work. The PO just bolted on two pieces of angle iron. I want to bolt a rack onto it.

So since the last post I took two pieces of iron flat bar, bend them and welded it at the end of the round tubing.
But before I paint it I'm looking to fab a tail light mount. Any idea of a newer tail light that would be easy to find, be cheap and mount easily on my grab bar? Make your suggestions and keep voting:rolleyes:
Sorry for the bad pics. It was too dark outside.

Sweet custom bar and probably cost you next to nothing!!
The only problem is sometimes a big strong bar like that is much stronger than the frame. In the event of a roll down a hill or something it could trash your frame - thats all............

Well to say the truth the frame is already tweaked at a couple of place. But still usable.
Any one have any tail light ideas?

UPDATE!!!
Ordered a new Yamaha Blaste tailight from the dealer this week. Yesterday I started making a mount on my grab bar. Use a small piece of iron and after some welding here is the final result. I also welded brackets for my license plate. Should be strong enough. Only other thing I want to do on my grab bar is weld some tabs to hold an army cartridge box. Should be really useful as a toolbox and extra storage space.
Triple B!

That's what I thought it was. Poor man's spark arrestor, maybe?

Probably a way to quiet it down some. I can see where to muffler was cut and rewelded at 3 differents places.

Here is my grab bar with my mount for the army cartridge box. The box was $25 at the army surplus. I will use this box to carry tools, gas, oil, tire repair kit, my wallet, my cellphone, etc. This time I decided to paint it flat black, less of an hassle to clean it. Anyway it will only stay painted until I loose the control on my next wheelie.
