85 250R runs hot..need advice.

Just got back from the dunes and my 250R was puking some coolant from the rad cap. I didn't lose much because it was never really low, but it sure would smoke a bunch after screaming it while chasing my buddies through tight sections of the trees and up the hills at lower speeds. Anything I should look for? I have'nt owned this bike very long so I'm still finding little things from the previous owner. Maybe a bad waterpump or clogged radiators?

First time at the dunes with the Honda. I'll swap the cap, but probably won't be back to the sand until next year.

Actually,, the plug looked really good. A lilttle rich if anything. The bike ran well and had a lot of power, but would just puke coolant after running hard. But, in the sand you're always running them hard. Wasn't sure if the honda's had anything specific that I should look for. The Tri-z's are known for waterpump problems.

More than likely it is your cap then.

Could be your cap but just to be safe you might want to check your water pump impeller. I have seen coolant do bad things to the blades.
