i just got a big red 200es and i was wondering why there seems to be more power and torque going to one of the tires. it almost seems that it is a one wheel wonder. i was wondering if there is soposed to be equal power going to each tire or if this is how it is soposed to be. i appreciate the help

sounds like you either got a hub or axel splines stripped

My wheel hubs are loose. Would that have anything to do whith it? The wheels have gotten looser just in the past week since I have owned it.what could I do to check the splines? What exactly are the splines? Can I just tighten the axel bolt to make my hubs less wobbly or is it a bearing issue? Thanks for the help I greatly appreciate it

left the rear of the bike of the ground and support it
but the bike in gear and try to turn the wheels.
if the wheel spins and dosen't turn the engine over, your spline is stripped.
also do u feel like the bike is pulling to one side while driving it?
If u suspect a worn splines take the wheel of and exam it.
always make sure the axel bolt is always tight, any slop, can wear *Edited**Edited* spline out easily.
if your full axel is wobbly, it's time for new bearings.

yes i feel like the bike pulls to one side when i am driving it. i definetly need to tighten my axel bolts. the axel itself is not looses just the wheels. can i tighten the axel too tight? how do i replace my spline?

You don't - you would need to get a new axle. Chances are the hub splines are stripped and the axle is fine - that is the way they are designed. The hub splines are inherently softer than the axle splines. Look for new hubs on the Classifieds here - or Flea-Bay. Be sure that is what is wrong firs though.

do i just take off the rim to see if the spines are bad?

yip
look at the spines on teh axel, and look at the splines in the hub, and c what damage was caused

you take off the rim by removing the 4 12 mm nuts, then you remove the big nut that holds the hub (what the rim bolts onto). Now when you have the hub off look inside it. there should be grooves on the inside of the hub and grooves on the axle where you removed the hub. If the rooves are worn out on the hub you need a new hub. If they are worn out on the axle you need a new axle.

ok so i took off the Wheel and i realized the splines are bad on thar rim. I was wondering how i could attach the hub to the axel with out buying a new one. some one mentioned welding it or putting some type of pin throughit. i was wondering if anybody else has done anything like this and what is the best way about going about it. Or even better does anybody have a hub they would like to sell for 1984 BIG RED ES.

STOP STOP STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess if you want to hack your trike, it's yours to hack. If you weld it on, now not only is your hub junk, but so is your axle. Same thing if put a pin in it, not to mention that probly wouldn't work. Just bite the bullet- spend the $40 dollars or whatever and fix it right or you're just gonna be doing it again down the road and it's gonna cost alot more- go ahead, price out an axle then add a few hours labor at $75 an hour-
This might fit, I dunno-
