Rear axle problem

My rear axle on my 1981 250r is bended and I want to know if I can use the rear axle of another year of 250r or any other model to replace mine :confused:

the 200x will fit had one on mine dont know what year sure someone on here can tell you and i dont know if drum brake will fit i have a 82 with disc brake rear

I don't know how the rear drum brake assembly mounts on your trike. I know for a Tiger I'm building I can use a 200x rear axle or an 82 250r rear axle. The only difference in them is the mounting points for the rear sprocket. The 200x has cushioned mounting points and the 82 250r has solid mounting points which is what I want. What you should do is take a picture of your rear axle out of the trike and take a few good measurements and then ask if anyone with an 82 250r could compare the measurements and the splines and such of the 2 axles. There aren't too many 81 250r's floating around any more and I don't know of anyone who has tried switching the axles. Some people updated their 81 250r's with an 82 250r swing arm and the rear axle and rear disc brake assembly though.
But I'm pretty sure an 81 axle will only fit an 81 250r.

Here is a picture if it can help you to see the difference. As soon as I have a little time, I will disassemble it to make good picture with more detail. I believe the major difference should be in the yellow box. Little more detail: the splines for the drum begins after the two nuts and finished near the swing arm (3-4 inches)
