1985 200s problems

i have a 85 200s,here's the problem once the engine gets warm it wont idle.i fired it up rode it around the yard and it wont stay running if i hold the gas a little bit it will stay running but as soon as i let off it dies.i clean the carb ,new plug,good air filter, fresh gas.it only got 2 external carb adjustment the idle screw and the pilot screw.the manual says for the pilot screw 2 1/4 turns out.i have it set at that.when i checked the plug it is black(dry) mabye rich..any suggestions on what i should try next?

run it with the air box cover off and the fliter off, also try to turn *Edited**Edited* air screw out 1.5 to 2 turns, and clean *Edited**Edited* carb. also try a new plug

I don't know much about carbs but i'm having a similar problem and the next step i'm going to make is moving the needle clip either up or down and see how it does. moving the clip up makes the mixture more lean and down is more rich. Good luck

on second thought....needle clip is for meduim throttle adjustment, so maybe moving it isn't the way to go, sorry.
