what other model rear axle will fit my 200x without extensive modifications? seems like my cushioned sprocket mount is bad, and would like to replace with solid mount sprocket.

I believe the 2nd gen. air cooled axles fit. Try a search as I know this topic has been covered many times.

I pretty sure about that too! The 82 250R is a a bolt on, we used his 85 sprocket hub though and I forget why.........

EDIT - I misread the above "2nd generation" as meaning 2nd year air cooled. I stand by that the 82R axle does bolt on the 83-85 200X. Just want to get it right for you anhd not confuse things more :D

I think if you use the first gen 250R axle you will have to use the 250R sproket hub as well.

actaully 1st gen 250r axle are a direct fit. 2nd gen 250r axles fit the 2nd gen 200x. I use a 2nd gen 250r axle in my 86.

This sure looks like something that would work great for you bud! Cut/paste below..........

Not sure about what sprocket hub you'll have to run, or if you can just use that one....

1986 axle will fit with no modification really, it will fix your mount problem and will be solid.
