My 200m is very hard on plugs. I have to put in a new one after almost every ride. The engine will still run on the old ones, but will not idle. If I clean and re-gap a plug the engine will then idle on that plug, but not for long. The air filter is good, and the engine only burns a bit of oil on start-up due to bad valve seals. The rings are good so no problem there. What could be wrong?

sounds like the carb is running a little bit rich

any black smoke when you rev it up? or your choke spring may be broken that will make the choke butterfly not stay in the right position while running and that will make it run rich as well

No black smoke, only a little blue when I first start it.

Post a pic of your plug after you've run it.

What brand of plug are you running? My 200ES had the same problem, I switched to a champion spark plug (of the same heat range as the NGK plug the 200es calls for) and the problem went away. I don't know why. The NGK's will only last for a few days, they foul, I clean them, but they never work right again. No problems with the champion plugs. I run NGK's in all 3 of my 200x's with no problems.
