Gas prices have gone down because the economy is in such bad shape that the demand has gone down.

At least that's what some analysts are saying.

At my job ( Crown Equipment: making Fork lifts ) things have been going pretty well. Until last week we were working OT quite often. I know things are slowing up some now ( they are limiting the OT ), but it has been a busy year. I see on the news that the economy is bad, but so far it hasn't personally effected me.

Hasn't effected me all that much either. They ask that we get any OT approved and we cut out our company paid Christmas party but neither of those is major, at least I have a job.

I thought there was no natural gas in NY that is why everyone used heating oil to heat homes. I assume your talking compressors powered by large natural gas engines (Cat, Wakasha, Watzilla). This area has compressors everywhere.
