Hey all,

So I bought a couple of Honda 125m's a while back, and I'm super impressed.. it's hit -30 here and the things still run fine, I haven't even changed the plugs or oil in them yet (although I should get onto that anyway).

So my question is, how cold do you let it get before you put your 3 wheeler away? If ever..?

I don't put mine away, i'm going to set up my 250r for ice racing this winter. Snow is a blast.

Dammit!

I've ridden my trikes in everything from -10 (that's without the windchill) to 115+ (in the shade). :)

Since our winters usually stay above freezing, mine don't stop running. Not to mention I use them when I hunt.

This year I plan on keeping out our 125m and the Big Red...... everything else I already have stored away with stabil and full tanks or will turn into a winter project, lol. This year I have a ski set-up for the Red, change both bikes to a lighter weight oil... and ready to go. Today I just pulled out our sleds..... only one mice nest! :w00t:

yeah.. I couldn't imagine have a "riding season" like those guys out west. I'd go nuts in no time at all.

besides riding in the fall.. winter is my favorite time of year to tear it up. not extremely hot like summer and in the spring you deal with tons of mud. :Bounce

I take mine out of storage in November and put it away in April. Nothing like riding on a frozen lake.

The only time I put mine away is when the snow gets too deep. Usually that is around the month of February, depending on the year of course. Although since it is only for a few weeks I don’t winterize them or anything, I just stop riding till the snow melts/packs down enough.

I don't even take out one of my bikes until it gets below freezing:lol:

-30 is really cold though. I broke a pair of ski boots in that kind of cold.

We have been out in -20 without wind chill and the bikes worked great....just make sure you run the jetting fat!!! You wouldn't want to melt a piston.

I don't do anything special for my quad or trikes, but they don't get ridden very much since I get my sled out.

If it's raining or below 50 the Z is not coming out. But I just got a KLT200 that I want to make just for mud so I'll have best of both worlds.

Guess I'm a wimp. If its to cold to ride my bike, its to cold to ride my trike.

I plan on riding mine all winter. Yesterday I broke the starter rope on the 200 so I need to get that fixed.

The only time I put them away is when I'm done riding for the day, and get them ready for the next ride.

I definitely ride more in the winter. I'm just hoping some of this snow sticks around until Saturday.
Advantages:
1. The hunters are out of the woods and it is dark early, so the night ride begins at 6pm sharp!
2. Trail riding / sliding in the snow is much more fun than on dirt.
3. Don't have to buy ice for the cooler.
4. Set of trike tracks to follow out if you get lost on an unfamiliar trail system.
5. No traffic on secondary roads.

Mine stays out year round. The coldest it has seen was -40 with out the windchill. That was effin cold.

Put them away?? NEVER!!

LOL, just like Fox said, only when the snow is too deep.....

I love plowing the drive with my backhoe, shoveling out the garage doors and pulling out a trike to play with.

NOTHING more fun than that!!

Now whats REALLY fun is making a big pile of snow (after plowing the driveway) with the Farmall and then jumping it with the trike and landing in big fluffy snow. Snow riding is kick ass. Its like having a snow mobile but being able to drive it year round!:w00t:

when the snow flys and the temp drops, the ride gets better. the snowmobiles pack the trails down hard as concrete, and open up 100's of miles more for us to ride on around here. about the only time of the year i can go from my bro's house to the lake and not have to get on any roads. and when we get to the lake, the riding is endless... some of the best riding is in the cold and snow!!!

A skim of snow fell today, it more looks like a heavy frost. There was enough to make my back yard a bit slippery, so of coarse I spun around. I have no plans of putting it away this winter, I'm planning on keeping a trail beat down around my yard all winter.
