The 85 500 made the most HP. Parts are hard to find. I was playing with the idea owning a 500 but decided different.

I have an '85 CR500 engine that I installed a 2001 transmission and clutch assembly in, but kept the short rod (rod kits are still available from Honda for the '85).

So you don't actually have to use 1985 parts in the 1985 engine... ;)
