Got a good deal on a well used 02 400EX. It needed tires all around, so I rode it very little before replacing them. After installing new rears, it has a noticable wobble on the left rear. The bead is seated properly, and the whole tire/wheel assembly is wobbling, not just the tire. Checked the axle, and it is not the culprit. The two possibilities I see are:

1: Bent the rim with the bead breaker at the tire shop.
2: Both hubs were loose, so I tgorqued them down/replaced cotter keys.

Anyone ever seen a wobble due to a hub? Anyone experienced this problem before? Anyone got a rim for sale? Thoughts? Thanks!

yeah i see that alot at the track when guys go over the jumps, its usually just a loose hub, but if that doesn't work the splines on the hub and/or axle could be worn. i would inspect those and see what u come up with.

I agree The splines on the hub wear alot faster than the splines on the axle. look into new hubs. shouldn't cost too much if you get em off flea bay. If its the axle splines that'll be much more expensive. :Bounce

Thanks guys, I swapped wheels, and the wobble swapped with it, so I ordered a used wheel from ebay. I might watch out for some hubs too, but I think I can deal with a little play there for now.

u have to be careful with hubs or axle splines, if one side goes it can get real scary FAST... like if u motocross u don't wanna hit a jump with only one wheel having power cuz its gonna launch u sideways, and if its in the woods hills and stuff can get tricky as well. So just inspect before u ride
