Exhaust Paint

I have thought of painting the exhaust on my 200m. My exhaust is good and I thought painting it would make it look better and make it last longer. I was going to use high-heat engine paint, but somebody I know said they did that and it burned off from the motor to the muffler. What can I paint the whole exhaust, or at least the muffler with?

I've used the high heat engine paint(satin black) from dupicolor on all my exhausts and have had no problems with it at all. Even had it one the headers of my chevelle before i went with ceramic coated ones and it didnt burn off of them.

I've had good luck with the Plastikote Barbecue paint:

Resistant to 1200 degrees.

Vht Header paint, Can get it at autozone, Its good for up to 1500 degrees

I used the Vht also, had a great result. I didn't get so good a result from the 500 and 600 degree paint.

Next time I'm in to Canadian Tire I'll take a look for something resistant to at least 1200 degrees.

We bought VHT caliper paint this week to paint exhaust. Good for 1200 degrees I think. I'll see how it hold up.

i have tried all the above and more im sure in the past.

if you really want something that will stay on for a long time and still be fairly cheap then i'd go with high temp PC.

i did this 350x pipe about 3 years ago and other then a few stone chips from roost its still on. i think the powder was only $20 or so from eastwood and it was enough to do like 4 pipes.

Depends on what color you want. BBQ paint (Krylon, Duplicolor) is great, I've used it on many exhausts, bike, trike and cars. Colors, VHT has lasted for 10+ years on exhaust manifolds.
The great thing about BBQ paint is, if it needs a touch up, it blends right in.

The best i have ever ran into is the por15 high temp paint. The finish is phenomal. It will never, ever burn off. It will make your pipe last longer than anything else on your trike. It is kinda pricey though. They suggest that you brush it on because of the very high health risk associated with it. I have sprayed it on everytime with a SCBA on. I use the por15 coats on everything. It holds up very close to powdercoat and i can do it myself.

I will probally use BBQ paint because it is flat black so it will match the rest of my trike better.

"the trick" get a can of accitone, and some lint free cloths. whipte the exhaust down compeltley before you attempt to paint.

once dry and totally clean, you can paint and it will stick.
that is all. ;)
