The airboxes are the same, but the rubber boot that attaches the carb to the airbox is different since the 175 carb is bigger.

I have an 83 125 that just had work done on it. bored .60 over. I can get it to run with starting fluid, but can't keep it running. The jet is a 130. I'm not sure what to set my screws at on the carb. The little one, or the idle one. Please help.:Bounce

A cosmetic weak point is the seats. Seems the metal seat pans have a nasty tendency to rust apart with tears in the seat letting in water. They have a tendency to wheelie, which can be good or bad depending on your riding skill level. The clutches can be a little tricky when you have to replace them since they have to meet a certian measurement which means you have to mix different clutch steel sizes. Make sure and get yourself a yamaha shop manual for the trimoto. They are alot of fun though. The stock exhaust is the worst for performance. The stock exhausts seem to clog and really hinder performance. Try and find a decent aftermarket exhaust. You can get aftermarket reeds also. You can also occasionally find aftermarket rear suspension systems which make them much more fun to ride, but the suspension systems can be kind of pricey. I'm fixing mine up now with an aftermarket rear suspension and I have also switched the engine with an mx175 dirtbike to get the manual clutch and kickstart for the trike. You can do a search on here for the thread if you want. Have fun.

the seats are in pretty good shape still. one of them just needs a good tune up, idles eraticly, had mostly gas in the tranny when i drained it though. its all stock and the bike has plenty of power for a non-susp. trike. who makes the aftermarket pipes for it and where do i need to look?

There were many companies. Bassani, DG, Kerker, Pro Tec just to name a few off the top of my head. The only people that may make a pipe now is DG. You will have to search and find one. You more than likely will find a used pipe, or you may get really lucky and find an nos exhaust. I found nos exhausts for my last yt125 and now my yt175! The search can be both frustrating and rewarding. The search is half the fun. Some companies the 125 and the 175 was the same pipe and usually these pipes were compromises at best. The best pipes were seperate pipes for both the 125 and the 175. No pipe works best for both bikes. Take my word for it. Have fun looking.
