I have a set of 27s from my old 4x4, they will fit the rims, but you didnt state what they are going on. They may rub on the exhaust or whatever else is under your fenders. They are a wide tire, my 12'' vamps measure 13'' wide with 3 psi. They will rob alot of power on any small engine since they are a heavy tire with big lugs. I had mine on a 400 and it struggled at times with them.

They'll fit the rims no prob like Super90 said. What are they going on and how do you ride? I mean if all you need is straight line traction they work well, but if you get "sporty" with your riding ie; like to slide out in turns and do a lot of donuts and drifting then get the regular swamper tsl's. the reason is the vamps tread blocks are taller and are at more of an angle and you will have a hard time sliding around corners with them, they will bite and flip you, trust me I know all to well. The vamps are not the tire if you like any type of sport style riding but they do great if you just need max traction in straight line and mud bogging. The regular tsl's tread blocks run closer to straight across the tire and they are a little shorter, you can slide these around all day long like your running some wore out holeshots. They still do very good in the mud. the regular tsl's are also a lot lighter with more plient sidewalls than the vamps so they are more comfee on the bumps if you ride an old hardtail. They both wear like iron and last a long time. Gators are another tire that has a hard rubber that last a long time. Maxxis Mud Bugs have a soft compound and wear a little over twice as fast as the swampers or gators.

I have a set of 25x13-9 on my Big Red 250ES and they barely touched the front of my fenders when the wind pushes the fender back at higher speed. Other than that, they are fine, but not as good in the mud as I had hoped. They are really good in snow and sandy ground though.

ok so the trails i ride are all mud bogs barely any hard surface closest to hard surf would be some soft grassy ground, also the exact tire i was thinking of getting is "TSL VAMPIRE ATV Tires" and i have a GBC gator 25x12-5 on the front

To be honest, I can't offer any suggestions other than I am not impressed with the Vampires I have. They plug bad with the mud around here, and I don't think they have enough lugs. Kinda heavy too.

Their are better mud tires than a vamp, the problem is getting a Better tire in this size is hard. the highlifter outlaws and the new gorilla silverbacks dont come in this size for a 9 inch rim. You can get mud bugs, gators and mud zillas in that size. check with the tire manufactures regarding tread depth, they often vary with in a line according to tire size. the the gators in this size have .75" tread depth where as the 26x12x12 gators I had on the back of my kodiak 400 4x4 were 1.25" deep. the mud bugs are a constant 1.2" through the entire line I think but dont quote me. Check with maxxis regarding the depth of the mud zillas in this size. if you buy some 10 or 12" rims for the back you will have a lot more available tires to choose from.

I just checked GBC's site and the 25x12x9 is listed as having an outside diameter of 22.1" with only .75" tread depth. the mud bug will measure closer to 25 and the tread is .5" deeper, but the rubber is softer and they wear quicker, but they are also lighter so you won't lose as much hp. I have run both the gators and the bugs (gators with 1.25" depth not the .75" ones) they mud pretty close. however the mud bug in 25x12x9 vs a gator in 25x12x9 the bug will whoop it, its taller and has .5" deeper lugs.

Don't get me wrong, Vampires are going to better than average, so you could do worse, but if I had a choice I'd have gotten something else. I ended up with Vamp because there was not much else available in my size, so you could do a lot worse.

Don't get me wrong I dont work for maxxis and I am not trying to pimp their tires but in the 25x12x9 size you are limited. When I get another quad I'm getting gorilla silverbacks, thats a whole nother animal right there, wish they came in 25x12x9 or even 22x11x8.

I would suggest that you run a mudlite for a front tire, they are directional, and have very nice side bite...

look up tire weights... There isn't a trike out there stock that can correctly pull a 30 pound tire. Sorry, that's life.
Your best bet is to hit rocky mountain for some xtl mudlites on some cheap rims... Even 27s weigh less than 22 inch vamps.
Then again... You northern boys do have that mud that's more soupy than anything.

Mud bugs are not better than vamps unless your talking about the tsl. REGULAR vampires are alot heavier and have alot bigger lugs than tsls. I had a pair of 27x12x12 and 27x10x12s on a 4x4 and it was unstopable. They will climb anything you can throw at them. Anyway get the the TSLS, the regular vampire is just too much for any trike.

Super Swamper TSL Vampire 25x13.00-9
* Weight (lbs): 30
* Ply Rating: 4
* Tread Depth (Inches): 9.75
* Tread Width (Inches): 25.2
* Cross Section Width (Inches): 9x7
* Diameter (Inches): 12.2
* Suggested Wheel Size: 470
* Max Inflation (PSI):
* Max Load (lbs):
seems the tsl is 30lbs also :S is this the ones your talking about and there only 4ply... thought they were 6.
how well do tsl swamp lites perform the tread is almost as deep as vampires and weighs 23lbs
super90
12-25-2008, 07:08 AM
I guess they weigh the same, but the lugs on the regular vamp are 2x the size, just look at the pics on intercos website, big difference. I really dont see any trike turning the vamps in any kind of mud. The tsls would work but they are still heavy as hell. I think the lugs have alot to do with it too when you get in mud though, its 1'' vs 2'' open tread digging through. The tsls are 4 ply and the regular vamps are 6, but the tsls are the toughest 4 ply tire you could find.

What model bike?
185 , 200 std and 200m can be geared for the heavies.
Vamps digg. No bottom no forward motion.
GBC Gators will float and paddle.
Mudzillas will dig if you get enough wheelspin, but there really heavy.
Mudlites are a general purpose tire, same as the swamplites.
GBC Dirt Devils work surprisingly well. There a general purpose, heavier then the mudlites but work much better. Cheap aswell. Ran set on my atc200e for a season and they worked awesome.

yeah...sorry, but with an inch and a half of grip, and being the same weight as stock tire...you can spin the ever loving hell out of them AND they dig.

I must be confused Mr. Goat, I thought we were discussing tires in the 25x12-9 range. If that is still the case then the mudlites only have 3/4" tread in that size, thats not quite 1 1/2" now is it??? Oh well let me assume you do know what your talking about and mudlites do come in 1 1/2" tread depth then maybe it is on their larger ones. Nope, just checked itp's site and the "big" mudlites are only 1 1/8" deep. Thats still not quite 1 1/2" that you claim so lets dig a little deeper, maybe its on the very biggest mudlite they make the 30" tall model (even though we weren't talking about 30" tires). Nope not on the 30" model either, seems it is only 1.3" deep.
http://www.itptires.com/utilityatv/mudlite.html
I still stand by what I said about the mudlites. since we are talking about a stock size replacement tire, the mudlites that are stock replacement size will out do the stock tire usually but not much else.

I run 25x12.5x9 Kenda Bear Claws on my SX. They work awesome in mud, snow, soft terrain, even water crossings. They definately hold up to hard trail riding and abuse. The tread is aggressive, but I think they ride just fine.
I will be buying another set my other SX. What other endorsement could I give?
The pic on the right is at 3000ft. ASL. The Kendas do good on rocks too!

easy little buddy....measure an inflated 25in XL......it's a bit more than 1 1/8.
as for the kenda bearclaws....they are a damned good tire...but they also weigh the same if not more than the vamps.

so its down to 2 choices * if they havent been disscontinued yet...*
GBC dirt devil 2 - 23lbs
KENDA bearclaw - 28lbs
would that extra 10lbs from the claws help in ruts since with the stock goodyears i found my self always bouncing my ass end or would the ddevils be a better over all choice.

have you considered outlaws?
I ran 22x12x10 bearclaws on a 250 yamaha. Ran em at 1psi. They were over 14 inches wide...and they slide really well when out of the mud. I always found they would keep going where others failed just because of the width. But at 22in I could spin them reved out in second...
The issue you're going to have is spinning them. They are HEAVY!

i have never seen the outlaws in my sizes and i dont believe the shop around here can order them, they couldnt even order from interco -.-. anyways hes currently looking up the bearclaws and dirt devils 2 for me i really want the dirt devils 2 they seem to have a real nice tread and weight. but bearclaws are my last resort:w00t: :postwhore

acidburn, i cant comment on any other tire than the dirt devils. i run these on my 200x and a friend has them on his 250sx. i am really impressed with the tire for the type of terrain i ride in. we have extremely rocky terrain with alot of mud and streams, steep hill climbs, hard packed roads, and tons of snow in the winter. i've had mine for 2 seasons and there still goin strong. rarely do i get stuck and i run out of power climbing long before i lose traction. in my opinion, you wont be disapointed in the DD2's.
McDerry
12-28-2008, 12:21 PM
Might want to consider the regular Dirt Devils over the 2's if your going to be in the muddy stuff. While a little heavier and the same lug profile they have a larger void spacing and will clean better in the muck. Can't ask for much more.
