View Full Version : Mud flaps for 250SX?

Does anyone have any suggestions for mud flaps on a 250SX? My dad put a Maier rear fender on his and the holes for the mud flaps didn't line up quite right. The attaching screws still went in but I guess the stress on the flaps was too much, they both cracked really bad. New flaps are not available and cost a ton anyway. I don't know why Maier just didn't include the mudflaps made into the fender like the 350X. Now you can't just leave them off because it looks bad. What does everyone do? Looking for a lower cost option as the fenders cost enough.

I did the same thing on an SX that I had a while back, and the same thing happened to me Blown 331. I just left them split and sold the bike. I know this doesn't help, just letting you know your not the only one.:beer

personaly i would goto a carpentry store or hardware store, choose the best suited material and then goto the dollar store get a big sheet of cardboard paper and make a stencil and there ya go! your own custom flaps

I thought at one point MAIER had offered flaps you could bolt on??
I cut that area off and run more of a race cut fender myself. BUT, if you are using the SX as a workhorse, it's nice to not get covered in mud!
McMaster has a ton of different materials that can be used. I've seen 18wheeler mudflaps cut up and used with just ordinary bolts. Those OEM fastners almost never come out anyhow....
Just remember that that fender gets real heavy fast when it builds up with mud. I definitely suggest making up some type of support wire if your gonna run the flaps.
I'm almost positive that is why the stock fenders crack back at the tool box, it's just too much weight for old tired and weather beaten plastic.
