After/during restore
I'm looking at asking about $680 when completed. Think it'll bring that restored?

Clean looking. What are you going to do with the fenders?wet sand or? Looking really good though. I'm not sure what it'll bring where you are but here i'd say 700 or 800 bucks to the right person.

i'm in dallas area. If i get $600 flat i'll be happy. any more and i'll be excited!
The front fender is goig to be repalced with one that looks very clean, and the rears have some cracks that i'm going to get a plastic welder and repair.

Around here 600 would be a good deal for that. A 200m or s with the guts hauled out gets around $400.Around here prices are often one extreme or the other.most time it sucks.lol Other than the lack of fenders:lol: It looks mint:w00t:

I think you could easily get 600 for it, try for 700-800 and see how it goes. I would pay 700 for a nice 200s. My buddy paid 1200 for two 185's that wernt even rebuilt, one had no fenders and needed tires also.

Looks nice Oscar!

Dang really? Must be nice. There is no market here for trikes. People just aren't really interested in them and won't pay much. I sold this 185s last month for $375, and I had a lot of people that wanted to give me $300 for it:

I find I'm better off parting them online because I get about the same amount of money as fixing up and selling complete with way less work and I get my money back much faster.
Rob
Oscar, when you get done i might be intrested in it. I have been wanting to build one for a while but just havnt had the time. Let me know when you get ready to sell.

sounds good barry. I just picked up a atv trailer so we could meey someplace for the exchange.
This is what i was planning on doing. Asking $720 obo, then if they want to talk price and lower it, then i'd tell them , I'll go to $650 as it, or $620 and i get to keep the front tire (will put on an older one in it's place as the current front is brand new unused) i've got about 14 hours of work in it and by the itme it's done will have 20-24.
I do them up cause i enjoy it. it's got a weisco piston, brand new valves, rebuild and cleaned carb, and more.
I go up to athens about once a month, so it wouldnt hurt me to make a drive a little further. Just let me know when it gets done and we can discuss all of the details.

cool man! will do. Should be in about 2 weeks or so. I still need to install the new cables and brake stuff as well as redoing the rims. I'll probebly tube the tires. I have some older tires in good shape but they ahave pinholes so tubing would work perfect. (no plugs or major cracks)
We'll keep in touch man! I'll continue to post pics as i get more stuff done.

sorry it's been a long time since I did anything to the trike. being sick a lot, holidays and other stuff, I have been busy!!!
here are some the the latest photos of the 200S i'm building up for re-sale.
as I mentioned before, it is getting TrailPros on the rears because the set i had lying around are in perfect shape.
here are a few extra's i've done to it.
I coatedthe following parts with spray on beadliner. The kind that gets super hard and scratch resistant
entire bottom of frame (back side)
skid-plate
headlight trimming (was rusty when i got it, i cleaned the rust off but it looked ugly, so i painted it with the coating to protect it from rocks and stuff)
bottom and sides of footpegs
now i knwo i will have it done in about 2 weeks for sure as I need the $ badly. I have some other projects i need to get started on and the $ will go towards that.

well, I posted photos of the trike on my site.
www.mikesatvfix.com
it's actually nearly complete. I need to go get a fuel filter run the fuel lines and try to start it actually. ;)
I'll probebly do that this evening if I can.

Man trikes here in the Phx area go for a lot more money, one as nice as yours RDLSZ would have prob got double that! At least looking at all of them on Craigslist, a bike that is that good looking would be much more. Usually anything under $500 needs fenders, or carb or quite a bit done to it. Maybe I should come out and find one in your area and bring it back. Everything I want here I cant afford, my wife gave me a $500 limit on a new trike. I'd agree with custom and I would shoot for $800. A guy down the street just bought one, decent plastics and ran good, but no where near as pretty as yours is, and for sure not gone over mechanically like yours, for $600..

I was planning on asking $750 not sure I'll get it but I can try. it's about 85% restored. only needs cosmetic stuff when done. (easy fix for someone) I did a riding restore is what i call it.
-----
those are turfe tamers. I use them to help me move the bike around when working on it as they are smaller and take up less spacing.
the normal tires are 22x11x8 all the way around.

I have a question about the restoring stuff. When will you be in AZ to do mine?! But seriously what is the best to use for painting the frame, and also, what can I use on the plastics? I cant afford new ones so what is and how does the plastic welding work? And how do you paint them so it won't crack and look bad?
oscarmayer
02-04-2009, 12:04 AM
i don't paint the plastics. you can sand then and work your way to higher grit sand paper and then buff them. you can buy a plastic weldig kti on line at some fo the atv shops.
for the frame, I used heat semi-gloss black
then on the bottom, and skidplate i used thick spray on beadliner that gets rock hard. it'll help protect the bottom from scratching and rusting so early.

forgot to mention, NEVER try to start a high compression trike with the pull start and not using the decompression lever. the first pull i made jacked my figer tips up bad! then the 2nd pull the lever slipepd in mid pill and my hand is black and blue. 3rd pull i held it leaning over and SHE BANGS! But I sure paid for this one... my hand hurts!!!!!!!

looks like a nice rider, so do you have an extra tank? your not using the 86 tank?

I might have some questions for you as well. I'm getting an 86 200S tomorrow, has the rear suspension kit on it. I need a tank for it for sure and I'll find out what else tomorrow once we get it home. I'm going to use your pics and thread to help out. Thanks for the posts!

It's a 1984 model trike so it's using the 84 tank. Sorry for any confusion.

the 86 tank has a more of a flat stop where the seat goes. this had a less humped one but the 86 is pretty flat.

the exhaust was soo loose that it blew by very badly and that is what I think caused the issue. I ended up jsut ordering a good working exhaust as the header pipe for this one was damged, cracked and rusted in spots through.

braunz,
Thanks for your comments it shows your attitude... Just so you know because you you don't it appears, they actually make a paint that containts a very HIGH pecentage of aluminium. This paint not only does NOT cause the temps to rise on an air cooled motor (typicallyyou don't wnat to paint a motor due to the paint causing the tmeps to raise a little and that coudl mean detonation), but also help restore the cooling fins capacity that were damaged due to corrusion. Unless you have access to a special beed blaster that can sand smooth the fins during the cleaning process, this is the next best thing on an air cooled non-colored motor from the factory. You may not like it, but it's purpose is there for functionality not looks. The fact it makes it look newist is a bonus.
