pilot jet Keihin PD

i have an old keihin PD carb 1980 year

it is the long flat head end style with aeration holes in it and outside threads

mine i could not see light through it lengthways from end to end.

i assumed that this was bad and so i took a small drill bit and drilled it out

some brass metal flakes came out

does the jet neck down in the middle ?

or supposed to ?
