So I'm going riding on Saturday and I haven't done anything with my jetting from the summer. I don't know how cold it's gonna be this weekend, but today it was only about 10 degrees out where we're going I think. I was told by my brother (who knows alot) that I'm running the risk of blowing my motor if I don't fatten up my jetting. I'm riding my 85 Tecate 250 with a CRF pipe and the stock Mikuni carb, jetted for the pipe. I'm not sure what it has in it for jets now because I jetted it like 2 or 3 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
To be really safe - go up a couple sizes on your main and drop your neddle clip a notch. Then run a few plug chops at riding temperature to be sure.

Thanks Saul. Does anybody disagree with what Saul is saying? Will I be OK for one day if I don't re-jet?

at least bump up your main. cold air = leaner. Plus in winter you constantly spin the tires and higher revs, so your main should be fat.
I run my R fat in the summer anyways so i dont worry too much about the winter rejet..

If you want to be sure about your cold weather jetting I would recommend you bump the main until you feel It surge at wide open throttle. Go way big on the main so you KNOW It's rich, then back It down, then fine tune your needle for good midrange throttle response.

For every 15 degrees lower from where you are at in the summer jetting, change the main 1 larger.
