Guy's I'm trying to figure out what I should do for pipe size coming off the head on my 200x. The engine isn't stock, heads ported, bigger carb, all that junk. What I need to know is should I build it with 1.25, or 1.50 inch diameter pipe?

I'm looking at pic's of other bikes and what not trying to figure out what size pipes people are running. Can someone let me know what the DG systems run for pipe diameter?

Thanks for the help.

Garrett.

if you go to www.dgperf.com i believe it will give you the measurements on the pipes

I looked on their website, they list the systems they make for the 200x but don't give details like pipe size. I sent them an email asking what size pipe they use. Hope they know. lol

I think the OD of the header pipe is about 1.375 or 1 3/8ths. I found that the ST, DG and Cobra are all fairly similar, at least in the case of an 86 200X application.

i do know my old KERKER 200x system had a slightly larger head pipe then most others.

1 1/2'' is what aftermarket 350x pipes are after the primary tubes...i say go smaller.

that being said i love the sound of a huge pipe....lol

Go too big on the head pipe and you'll lose velocity and hurt performance. Just something to keep in mind.

thats what was said about my 2'' 350x pipe......it didnt happen, but on a smaller motor it would show up more.

Thanks guy's. I think I'm going to try to find some inch and 3/8 tube. I made the exhaust for my YTM-200 out of 1.5" stainless tube and it sounds nice, who knows if it helped or not... I'm going to go with carbon steel for the 200x so I can have a 180 degree mandrel bend off the head. I had to cut and section the stainless tube on the other exhaust.

I have heard about loosing velocity with too big of a pipe, you guy's know more about this stuff than I do.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh yeah here's what I'm going to start with. For 15 bux it doesn't pay to mess around with anything else.
