I've got an 84 200s that is smoking like crazy. looks like it;s time for a new top end/engine. This one is original. My questions is - has any swapped any other motor, maybe a lifan, into this bike before?

Would you go through the swap or rebuild the stock motor?

Thanks y'all

no swap! fix the top end. there's a ton of performance stuff for the 200 top end.
weisco high comp pistons, web cams 1-5 stages, CNC head work and valving, and more! I spend $780 on my 200e top end and got it really done up hard.
specs:
web stage 3 cam
web springs and titanium retainers
web hardened rockers
weisco piston 10.5:1 comp (stock is 9:1)
CNC valve and seat work, CNC porting
new larger jet sizes
rebuilt carb (i rebuilt it and cleaned the valley out some and shined it so it's smoother)
thin headgasket
new black nitrate coated valves
few otehr small stuff, but it was well worth it!

you can do a basic top end with a 200X piston for like $260 parts and machining work on the jug and valve seats.

i know nothing about lifans but i wouldnt find my self buying one if its only a top end. check your bearings for wear and then decide wich one, if the whole motor was in rough shape then sure throw in a brand new lifan with electric start
