There's a guy in town selling parts from a Yamaha YFM 225 86. Do you think I can fit a lot of parts from this quad on my YTM-225 DX 1985?

A lot of the parts should be the same. So if you can get a good deal on it, then you would have spare parts.

Don't worry, I'll leave you some, until I won the lotto 6/49.
Shift shaft, same prt number :Bounce
On the microfiche the foot pegs looks similar
But you are right bad350,the rear end is different: 2 shocks and middle drived gear, the ytm ismore on the side of the swingarm.

the drive shaft on the moto4 comes out in the center of the cases the tri moto comes out on the left side for 250 bucks you could just buy a 225 dx motor and have money left over, there is a 200 moto4 engine on ebay for 100 bucks buy it now the bottom end on those are an exact match to a 225dr so you would have reverse the only differnce in a 200 is the jug, to me thats better money spent

crank is also different from a 200 compared to a 225, not the same stroke.
I'll probably pick it up tonight.
The clutch, the shift shaft, the pegs, the rear brakes, the hubs and wheels will all fit on my 225dx.

I need a new exhaust on my ytm-225dx to be legal on the trail. Someone welded a lawnmower cylindrical muffle at the end of the muffler. Also I can see that the muffler have been cut and welded back in differents places. I can get a complete EXsound replacement exhaust system for a yfm-225 for a little less than 200$. Do you thing I should buy it and modify it to fit on a ytm-225?

I do have a exhaust. I wasn't able to get pictures because it's still on the machine and the machine is some what buried. I estimate the shipping weight to be 10-13 lbs. Just checking the www.usps.com web site the shipping cost show $34.75 ( 10lbs ) to $40 for ( 13lbs ). That seems pretty high, so I want to double check shipping at the post office.

I got a new exhaust for my 225 drs from this guy in new zealand (http://www.japmcdismantlers.co.nz/Yamahamufflers.htm). same as the oem exhaust, bolted straight on, no problem, have the exhaust on just over a year now, no problems with it or any increases in noise level, perfect for the trails. Arrived very quickly after order was placed.
