This 85 250R I got has black Maier fenders on it, and they are scratched up a fiar bit. Can you wet sand and buff out them like you can the red Honda plastics? It's a shame because I want black plastics for one of my R's but can you save it once it's been scuffed up pretty bad? The pics show the front fender. It is scratched up but not gouged up, so it should wetsand out as I go from 220-400-800-1500-2000 and then polish and low speed buff. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use for compounds in order to try and shine it back up since they are black? Is it worth my time or should I just keep these for riding plastics or sell and start over with new ones?

You'll be sanding for a long time to get those gouges out. Turn them into riders and get new, your finger tips will thank you.
Dammit!

If you do try to buff it out, see if you can find some black polishing compound. You'll never get the white stuff completely out of the tiny scratches. I know they used to make colored waxes and compounds. It was kind of gimmicky but maybe the stuff is still around.

Mosh had to polish his Black Z head light becuase it was painted over white.
He finally got about 95% of the shine in it back, but that was the best he could get it. And he spent over 10 hours on that 1 headlight shell. Plus, it was OEM plastic.
Not sure if you can get the shine back from aftermarket. All you can do is try.
Check this thread. That is what we used exactly to do the polishing with good results..
A new front fender is like 45 bucks though, not sure if it is worth the effort for that price.

I'll prob give it a try.....but I have thought about sanding them down to 2000 grit and leaving it satin finish, make it a stealth riding set.....lol, like no one couldn't hear the damn thing!
