I was pretty much using a billboard , my every day digital camera,, Samsung Digimax 430.. Pretty heavy,, but it didn't affect the cars handling or speed.. In fact I think it helped the handling.. I drilled a hole in the roof, and used a bolt where the tri-pod would go. worked well in my oppinion..In the vid. you can see my buddys camera on his, He uses a wireless set up, no noise though

Goin' back to the old school. Actually a really fast car, but my how suspension has come a long way... Ive played around with nitro, just never been a fan. I'm loving all the new brushless technology! I also have a Losi graphite XXX-4, with a Speed Gems 13t that I tweaked, timed, trued, and cut. Also have a Duratrax buggy (baja truck form), a Losi micro Raminator, and a Traxxas Sledgehammer (first truck). Ive had others, just swap around quite a bit.
I am digging the 1/5 scale gas cars though, would like one of those myself.

Ive been into RC for years, here's my Sassy Chassis Clod I sold awhile back,My Clod Rock Climber Im still working on,it's based on a Zilla 3 chassis and I have most everything but the servos, just put it on the back burner for awhile.
My E-Maxx,it's mostly stock but has RPM arms,Proline Steering upgrade, newer Maxx tires and wheels,Alum bumpers and it kicks the crap out of other Maxx's Ive run against.
My Tamiya M03 that has a 14x2 motor,Duster 2 ESC,bearings,oil shocks,Ta02(I think)Diff,some Alum stuff,it is very fast to say the least!
And lastly a Tamiya Frog I started on but got ripped on Ebay, had to file a claim ect...,got my money back but didnt get the Frog so Im stuck with the stuff I bought for it until I find another chassis :(

We've got a couple of R/C vehicles.
I've been running them on and off better than ten years now.
I have run both nitro, and electric. Back in the day, nitro was the one to have if you wanted speed. Now with brushless, electric is my fave, by far.
I remember running my Associated, and my Losi real good.
I also remember when Traxxas came out with the CAT, one of their first RTR (ready to run) R/C's. They've come a ways since then. I like to run Traxxas for general bashing....pretty tough units.
I have a Rustler, and Stampede, both modded, and the wife runs a fairly stock Rustler.
Here is a pic of what I currently run myself.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c15/hemo123/RC%20Stuff/P1000135.jpg
Lightened chassis, wide mod, aluminum shocks, revalved, Spektrum radio, and wicked fast brushless system.
You would not believe how fast a CC Mamba Max is in a heavy Rustler with one of their 9000 KV motors running on a 3s LiPo battery.
I've put it on it's lid at over 40 mph on radar several times.....no lie:naughty:
That was with the 5700 KV motor geared at 31/83.
I had recorded speeds just over 70 mph with a CC 7700 KV motor geared at 25/83. Then they came out with a 9000 KV, and I knew I had to try it.
I'm still playing with that one.............:D
Here is a link or 2 to R/C drag racing......pretty cool stuff.

Hows that Spectrum Treating ya? I've heard allot of good and bad things about the range with them.
I picked this up for the Baja 5B project I am working on.

I like it. That DX3S is a pretty nice radio......lotsa goodies i it.
as far as problems with the Spektrum sets, you just need to make sure you get enough voltage to it and nothing below 4.8 volts at any time.
Then you won't have any issues.
The only issue I had was when one servo I used pulled a lot of power on the BEC circuit, which powers the receiver, too.
The RX goes into failsafe mode, and your vehicle coasts wherever it wants.
You won't have control till the receiver binds to the transmitter again, which isn't always instant.
I think these 2.4's need more consistent power than AM, or FM sets do, and that's the problem.
I run a Castle Creations BEC, and the TX/RX is very consistent, and the range is more than I will ever need.
Runs about 20 dollars for the BEC, and worth every penny. You may not have the issues running nitro, being that you have a dedicated RX and servo battery in those.
That DX3S is a nice set. I think I'm eventually gonna look into a DX3R............

NICE....... Quick question for ya........
How much power are you running through that wimpy battery connector I see through the window?
Ya might wanna switch that out for a Deans, or Traxxas connector.
They flow more juice and handle the heat better if they get hot.
I have melted a few of those Tamiya types over the years.

I use deans on my motor connections, and no, Tamiya connectors don't suck. I'm not running lithium batteries, and even though I cranked the motor- there isnt enough amp draw to make that big off a difference. Is there any difference? Some, but little... I'm not one of those guys that will throw this or that on my car because somebody else thought it was a good idea, or thought it was a good way to spend money.
If I do decide to go brushless, and peak draw my pack, then yep Ill go Deans...
Edoggy, when are you going to a brushless conversion on that Revo, everbody else is doin' it! :naughty: :naughty:

They are Nitro powered, basically they run on nitro fuel. They operate essentially like a diesel engine, using a glowplug for ignition.
Most small nitro engines are around .21, .25

If you guys are running battery powered cars, why not just solder the connections and be done with it, Thats what we do with our pan cars.. When we charge our cars, we run deans battery connectors off the +/- side of the batteries and solder the wires to them. That way there we can run alligator clips from our chargers and connect them to the deans posts.. no issues whatso ever, with a straight connection. And we run 2 diodes to the motors, which the ESC is soldered directly to the motor also.. Thats the key to NOT getting glitches
After 20 hours of building I am almost done!!!!!

yea, those brushless set ups are deffinately top notch but waaaay toooo expensive for me for a toy truck.. when it comes to racing in my opinion, its not about the speed.. how we have our cars set up, we all run the same batteries, gear ratios and motors. Granted some of the cars motors and batteries are better than others but, we fix that with the roll out from the tire size. Every now and then I'll cheat my ass off and take the end bell on the motor and give the timing a slight tweak, to give it a little more snap:naughty: to blow them off... But they are all pretty close to power, and speed, so It's all in the driver.. That in my opinion is what racing s all about

You ever try the 1/5 scale Baja?
Lomax

Thought about it. Gas powered R/C's are neat to me but I think that there is too much Nitro in my blood for that. From what i have seen of them, they dont seem to have the power ( to scale) like the nitro cars do without spending some coin on them.
I will prolly still get me a large scale one day. I am trying to get some bills paid off, since i closed my shop i had to take another job that doesnt pay as well so things are tight for awhile. I was able to keep my RC business going, i just run it out of the house. I took the new Tmaxx and the new Violator so that i wouldnt have anything around that would cost me alot of money for a little bit (there both new, and tough) so i could get myself into better shape.

If it ain't broke....then your not driving it hard enough!!!!!!

Metal sucks, plastic is the way to go. If you go with metal on the control arms. You just transfer the energy to bulkhead. I really don't feel like replacing it.

The aluminum arms actually will bend. RPM units are a nylon/plastic composite that is garenteed not to break or they will replace them at no charge. I saw a losi 1/10th scale take a major tumble, the RPM a-arm showed no damage but the titanuim hinge pin that it connects to broke out of the mounts (the pin broke, not the mount). If that doesnt speak volumes about quality on RPM's parts i dont know what does.

Very nice baja, anybody in here interested in a HPI Savage .21 with reverse, extra motor and tons of extra parts. Or a Rc10gt with a .15 O.S. Max engine? I would take offers on both if anybody is interested. Otherwise they will be going on ebay tomorrow.

I will sell the savage with the extra motor and extra spare parts including the extra chassis plates and a glow plug igniter and a rechargeable servo battery pack for $200. If you also want the Rotostart 2 system I have I want another $40 for that without a battery pack. The rotostart system is new and unused.
The rc10gt I will take $100 for I had it running a few months back.
All motors run but will probably need a new glow plug and to be tuned.
Get a baja. You will never own a Nitro ever again!!!!!!!!!

that would be fun, but I still love the smell of nitro so I would still have to have one or two or three.
