I've got some kind of aftermarket aluminum swingarm skidplate on my 86250R and the chain makes quite a racket when it slaps against the skidplate. There are some slight wear marks in the skidplate from the chain...nothing bad, but I want to rivet some material in there to keep that at bay.

Does anyone know what I could pick up at lowes or home depot to use to trim out a slider?

First things first.. Is your chain loose? Is your skid plate bent towards the chain? Putting a rub strip on something that shouldn't be rubbed on may be like a band aid to a different problem.

My chain -was- loose and the sound was absolutely horrible. I tightened it to spec and the noise mostly went away. But it will still slap once in a while. I suppose if I put the chain to "rubber band tight" it will keep the chain up off the skidplate, but that doesn't sound like a good solution.

That part of the skid plate is very slightly bent, but not enough to try and straighten. I would probably make it look far worse just to budge it back down slightly. I did shim the entire skid plate down with a few washers and that helped a bit.

The cutting board idea sounds great....now if I can find a black one!

Cut a strip of 1/4" think nylon about 1" wide by the length of the skidplate. Works great as a chain slider.

Great, but where are you buying nylon stock?

McMaster/Carr has Nylon, UHMW and any material you could ever need.
