hi, i had a junk 200X head, so i played around with a dremel and a wheel doing a home made port job. i just tried to basically open up the port a little bit and smooth it out some. i stayed away from the valve guide support in the port because i was scared to touch it, but i took off material from around it. this was just a basic rough trial to see how it would turn out. my question is should i go ahead and do it on a good head? i basically have no porting experience at all. if so can anyone give me any tips? how much material should i take off? and from where should i take it off at?
attached are the pictures of the ported and stock intake. first two pics are stock, last two are ported. i know their blurry, and kinda hard to see, but does it look like i did alright? or should i just play it safe and use the head as it is, not ported? oh and the head has a 3 angle valve job so i though porting would also help it a lot. thanks in advance!

If you take the valve out which you should, you can feel a big ring just in from the valve seat that is what you should get rid of. Just remember air doesn't flow over any curve, or reduction greater than 6%. Make it smooth and match it to your exhaust, same goes with the intake side.

The short turn radious is one of the best places to get better flow on the EX side. Do not open either of the ports up on the 200x heads. On the intake side again the short side radious is very important. Also the bowl area can be open up a little bigger then the seat size. Keep most of the valve guild boss in place, there is no flow gain there.
With that being said the best thing I can tell you after seeing 1000's of self done heads is DON'T DO IT!
Without a flow bench and the know how just about every head I seen someone do their selves made less power then stock.

^ thank gond someone else agrees that a flowbench is required to get proper flows. some knuckleheads on here seem ththing have at it and it's cool.

alright guys, thanks for your help. i was just wondering if it was ok to just open the ports a little. i dont have access to a flow bench or experience, so guess ill just slap it together with the stock head so i dont take a chance of hurting anything. thanks for your help and opinions!
