its dirt cheap i would go for it, they have the same features electric start shaft drive and rear suspensin

I have a 85 big red and an 84 ytm 200 basicly the same bike your looking minus rear shock...my luck has been the yamaha is alot more durable...

Seems kind of expensive for something you cant start. No fenders. Carb work usually means it doesn't run. You never know what your getting in to. If it will start and run, It's probally worth it. But if you can't hear it run, I'd pass.

r parts still avail readily like the hondas?? I had some old yamaha 2 stroke 3 wheelers that were pretty awfull

ebay has tons of parts for them, and when you go look at it pull the plug check for spark and check it has compression.

I've had several 225's in the 80's and 90's, and I'd actually rate them above my Big Reds in the durability category. As a workhorse though, I'd say the Big Red (in 250ES form)has a slight advantage as a single purpose machine, but if you're looking for a play/trail/some utility-use machine the 225, has the edge in my book anyday.

The engine placement and the tourquey motor make for a great wheelie machine, too. I could ride the back wheels 1st through 5th gear without ever putting the front end down to shift gears.
