my '83 and '84 have like an 80 degree angle along with alot of others. to the best of my knowledge they are not bent. i have seen a couple of 70's with like a 60 degree angle and that allows for more room between the front fender and the motor, not to mention it looks good too. is this a modification to the frame or is it a certain model that gives this appearance? or just a bent something that looks good. if a mod what is it that you guys do?http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/dratv_2040_75293856

The 70 in the picture above is really raked out - without seeing more of it - I can't tell you why it is like that - but it is not stock - that's for sure.

Looks to be lengthened frame. Can't tell without close up but 90% sure. Most cut tube and insert smaller one inside, getting ready to stretch one out myself. That fork rake looks as if it was cut at the front support and custom angled to me, not sure though. I'm sure someone here can help you for sure.:TrikesOwn

Our 74 is more raked out than the 78-85 models.
It looks better, but honestly our 83 has better turning response than the 74 model.
This really is felt in slick conditions like snow.
The 83 turns on a dime compared to the 74,that wants to push out in the turns.

i can imagine it would be a little harder to turn. i was out in the snow today on the '83 70 and i was surprised at how good it was climbing the hills. i'm 6' 215lbs and that 70 pushes me around very well. anyways you are right about it gripping up and turning in the snow.
