hi guys, well its time for new crank.( rod bearing gave out). seems to be original. cases dont seem to have been split.- anyway how well are these wiseco kits seem like a good price-all seals and gaskets incl. and crank bearings too, for about $225. or should i go with hotrods kit?- but that kit dont come with all the extras? i know o.e.m. is probably the best/longer lasting. what to go with for long term reliability, but be cost effective too? whats the feedback on these?-thanks

OEM is about 150$ more but I'd say the best bet. Although, there is some problem at American Honda currently because Mike ordered an 87 long rod (something you may consider) to run with a spacer plate, an they sent us an 85 CR250R crank..... They were in the process of opening some other OEM boxes in there warehouse.
I think if we had time Mike would have bought the 200$ Hot rod complete crank (I believe that was the model) ready to roll but I doubt it would stand up like OEM does. Those cranks ran 20 years or more!!
A rod kit will run ya at least 75$ and shipping if you go that route - something to consider.

hmmm, gonna have to see what others have to say about a wiseco crank kit. unfortunately "cost" is a deciding factor. but want some reliability, but i dont trust rebuilding the crank .

Hot rod cranks are very good.......They run very true out of the box and do last. Just handle them with care when installing.

They are used but in good used shape. If you want new you will have to go to the dealer or ebay. Mine are all used.I only have 85-6 ATC stuff. I think I have around 10 or so.
