So, I went to change the forks on my 85/86 250R and ran into something I didn't expect to find.
The 85 forks I got off of eBay had just HA2 on the sides of the forks.
The forks that are on the trike have HA2-50 on the sides of the forks.
Everything I can find info wise tells me that if it says "HA2", it's for a 1985/86 250R.
However....These 2 sets of forks are NOT the same length and are not the same inside either. I know the 85 had a 2 piece spring setup and the 86 had the single spring, but that's not what is different.
Take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think. Is it just that the 86 forks really are 1+" longer over the 85 ones? I don't recall this being one of the changes between the years.
The inside of the HA2-50 ones have a smaller tube inside them. The inside of the HA2 forks has NO smaller tube inside them.
I'm confused....hopefully someone will know what is up.
Thanks!
