A freind of mine had a pair of wheelers stolen 6 months ago. Last week the police called him and asked to describe the one, so he did and they told him they had the one in impound yard. He went there and it was his he had to jump threw hoops and pay a bill but he got it back. Well today I was in that area and was gettin some food and decided to cruise a alley to avoid traffic on the main street when there sat in a yard was his other wheeler. I called him and asked him to descibe it he did to a tee its been six months since he seen it. So we got the papers for it and a pile of pics of it with him on it. We then contacted the police that helped him with the first one they came looked at it knocked at the door nobody answerd so the cop said theres nothing he can do till they talk to someone in the house. We know its gonna disappear. This is craazy its his we could prove it no argument the cop agreed but said its not his job its some special theft team. This stinks the laws protect the crooks. Hopefully it works out but its in a really bad area the other one was found in crack house raid.I think the cop was scared of pushing it at 10 oclock at night . Just venting thanks

You should have taken it back. Posession is 9/10 ths of the law and you have all the papers for it. Do you think the thieves will report it stolen? I doubt it very seriously. But they might try to come back and steal it again.

Steal it back, when my Honda Pilot was stolen and found YEARS later, I tried the law and it was to no help for atleast 6 months, I said **** that, sent my friend the title and about 100 pics I had, he took it from the guys house when he left and had it ready to be loaded the next day.
I sent a letter to the guy that had it house saying "My Pilot is in WA now. Thanks for keeping it running for me, BTW scratching off the VIN doesnt work when you have the title, and the serial numbers for the trans and engine...trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprot railprotrailpro"
The reply i got a month after was this;
"You ****er, thats MY property and im going to get it back"
Nothing yet =)

Steal it back mate. For sure. The theif is not going to tell the cops that "his" trike has gone missing. Steal it back and keep in elsewhere, not where it was stolen from.

bud if your title says the same vin as the bike that in guys yard I would steal it back, and the cops are supposed to be able to pick it back up, some one is being very lazy... and I would bring friends to incase he where to come out side and start a comotion.

"Steal it back" is the wrong term to use... Grab a few more if your buddies,, and go TAKE it back!!! before it disappears again...
I highly doubt they will call the cops. I'd do it in broad daylight too!!!
Stuff like this pisses me off!!! good luck!

I would have without a doubt walked right in that yard and taken it back then and there, no questions asked. I also would torn up their lawn on my way out, no joke.

WHAT!!!???? Wow I'd call your Police station again and speak with a different officer.
I wonder what he'd say if he saw someone getting raped... Oh you gotta call the vice-squad or something. Thats crazy:crazy:
Good Luck with that.

Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. Take it back and do it quick. Im sure there was someone home who saw the cop car. Now that the heats on, they will unload the trike/quad ASAP.

That happened to me too with my KLx 110. At the time i was like 12 and i was trying to sell it to get a biggger bike. One day i woke up and it was gone. Was VERY lucky to get it back but it was in TERRIBLE shape...they beat the snot out of it....Dont stop trying...It is rightfully your friends and he deserves it back..Good luck man!

What would really suck, is if this new guy bought it from the theif thinking that he bought a ligit bike.
Could cause a problem if the guy is home when you go to reclaim your property.
I still say go get that sucker.

We keep thinking the same thing ,problem is if we go to take it there will definitly be fighting which doesn`t bother me but they tend to use guns in that area. Theres been more then one shooting around there and a wheeler isn`t worth taking a bullet. I know some crazy mexicans were gonna offer them some cash to repo it for us. They shoot back. We will see

You got the documentation, get that thing back Missing In Action style! Shoot first, shoot some more, smoke a cig, then ask questions.
Have you guys ever wondered about the old bikes you have owned throughout the years? I mean they almost never have a title, and chances are you may have a stolen machine at some point and never knew it. Thats why I'm about half afraid to get something titled/registered. What if it comes back stolen? You may have to give it back, and loose the money spent on it, and possibly face criminal charges. Thats why I get a bill of sale for most everything I buy. It shows that you bought it from someone, and didn't actually steal it yourself.
Well Mo (cant remember your name bro) I hope you and your bud make out, you gotta work quick, scum like that have eyes and ears everywhere with that click. Who knows where it could end up. What's the world comin to? With everything that goes on in this day and age, I'm half afraid to bring a child into this world.

I would go like I was inrerested in buying...ask enough question like how long have you had it? why you selling? Name or bill of sale, if he says I just bought it? If he's shaddy play stupid an just act like...do you need a title?I never bought a trike? I thought these things were outlawed. Go for a test ride....don't come back. Just have a truck around the corner.
Its true most original, 2nd owners have no paper work most were hand shake bill of sale. To get most State ATV stickers you now must have proof of title and insurance coverage. It just makes sence to title your machines for just the PROOF.
I find it hard to believe you have a title and the cop said he can not determine a crime...Well if a person has a match in their hand, a gas can at their feet with a trail running to a house....Do you really need to wait for the match to hit the GAS trail?
Please....go get the title and ride over there with escort..of your choice.

Get your paperwork together and your Crew get on over there. Call the cops once you see the ride is still there. Wait a bit and then go up there and check the VIN if all matches, then whoevers yard that is, is in big trouble. Let em know the police are on the way and its not your problem if they bought it or stole it. You leave with it and all is well. Or the cops get the proff and arrest everyone. Them for stolen property and you for tresspassing. Would be worth it. Go get it.

Go get it, thats BS what the cop said, just go there middle of the night and quietly load it into the truck, and leave lol.

Wether or not someone bought it from the thief or not its still rightfully your property. I would get a truck with a long tow rope, run up to it and hook it, then just drag it down the road far enough to load it.

It still sits there the cops told us if we do anything are selfs and we don`t get killed getting it we will get busted for stealing it (by the police). Because we will be tresspassing on the peoples property. They told us you can`t take the law into your own hand. And if it dissapears from the yrd where it is at they are coming right to his house first. It goes to show that the crooks have more rights then the honest guy.

wrong. as I said before he needs to find a lawyer, that being said, titlement only means 9/10th of the stolen atv. If the cop is a dick and doe's not have the balls to go get the damn atv or confront the owner with back up, then there is something else going on between the cop and that side of town.

i would think about taking it - first i would have just did it lol
then ?? well someone could have paid a lot for it with a bill of sale, even though it was stolen, this person might be kinda legit in there buying it -thats why the cop wanted to talk to them,
but if a stolen report was made ,and you had proof- the cop should have seized it right then and there , no need to talk to anyone!

I used to live by a indian rez and stuff came up missing it would usually be there the local cops wouldn't touch it and the rez cops wouldn't want to get involved with non indians so if you wanted your stuff back you got a truck full of friends and took it back usually there was no problem ... good luck

here's a thought, try contacting the police chief for your town, or the sheriff for the county directly.
call and ask to speak to the sheriff or chief, when they ask what it concerns, say you have info concerning possible illegal activities being fostered by one of the deputies and you will only speak to him. that should get him on the line...and it technically isn't a lie.
explain the situation...and that should be enough to get a deputy to escort you over there to reclaim your property. at least it would be in this state.
it's also likely that the original deputy would be reprimanded.

This is the update we live in a little town. The wheeler is in a really really bad part of a big city. Are local cop in charge of the theft have been calling the city police on a weekly basis. They either give him a run around or a bad excuse. He told us its at a area that they are trying to bust for a crack dealing ring. Thats howhe got the first one back a block away in another house that was empty but full of stolen wheelers snowblowers and other stuff traded in for drugs. And to all the people who say just go steal it back I will give $500 to whoever comes and does it. Cause once you see the area were its at you will understand why we don`t just go do it.

lol... if it's yours, you have proof, you can't get in trouble for 'stealing' it back. The only worry is retaliation from the guy you are getting it back from... make sure he's not there, back up with a truck, and take it.
I really don't see what's so hard about this.
