View Full Version : '85 T3 questions
I just got an '85 T3 and was wondering what do you guys do to protect the rear sprocket? Also, how hard is it to rebuild front forks, they're really soft? I'm an auto mechanic, so I have mechanical ability. Where can I get a case saver for this bike?

I welded up a custom guide from steel. It's not so much to protect the sprocket, but more to keep the chain on. You don't wanna have that chain hop and blow out your case. If you build one, put a piece of plastic just in front of the rear sprocket to keep the chain snug on there.

Front forks are an easy rebuild. However you need a special tool to take them apart!

You can use a case saver from almost any KX250 and KDX200 from like 1983-2000.
One from a KX500 probably works too.
They are not black.
Usually there is a metal spacer/saver piece that goes behind the plastic and that is what you really want.

I feel that the chain does a pretty good job of protecting my sprocket... I swerve to miss the huge rocks, and the smaller ones never seem to matter... I think the nasty steel sprocket is tougher than most cheesy chain guards...
