I've got a Honda 200m, with a 200e motor in it. I would like to somehow try to rig up reverse on this. I heard of reverse kits for the 200e, but I don't think I would ever find one. I also thought with modifying, the sub-trans off a 200es (shaft drive) might work to give me reverse. The 200sx (quad) is chain drive with reverse from what I have heard. So I thought of somehow using parts off one to give my 200e motor reverse. Would any of this work?

IMO you would be better of just buying a 200es 250es or sx

I would do that, but I I might be able to find a 200sx or 200es bottom end cheap if either will work.

It isn't going to happen. There is so mauch different that you can't swap reverse stuff.

in the 200e it was a gear that was made and deleted the LOW gear. Look at the gearing in the box and see what you can do?

I have a spare 200e bottom end so I'll take a look to see if I can do anything, but I don't think I can. I might just do what I have thought about doing for a while, mounting a cheap crank winch on the back rack to pull me backwards out of a tight area.

Not sure, but I think the 200sx use the "same" motor than the 86-87 200x,so doesn't fit in the older 200....

No the 86-87 200x motor is a completely different design than the older 200x's, 185, and 200cc motors.

So a 200sx motor won't bolt into my 200m?

With enough frame mod's you could. Without modding the frame then NO it won't work.

I took a look today at the 200e parts motor I have and I figured out a way to put reverse on it. If the two gears closest to the outside of the case were replaced with two sprokets and a small chain, that should give reverse. I'm not going to spend the money to have the sprokets machined, but I'm putting the idea out there for anyone else.
