was out tuning my friends tri moto again, it runs seemingly well except at wot, it just bogs and will die if you hold it there. it has a lot of whitish blue smoke. it is very hard to start and almost always needs quick start. the carb has been looked at and its spotless inside. i pulled the plug out and it was dark but the soot was dried up and crusty not oily. its running an air box, no air filter, lid on, any ideas?

Yeash sounds like you are running rich and burning some oil. When you cleaned the carb did you put it back to factory settings? What about the float is that set at the factory height? Even if it is set a factory settings without the filter you will have to lean it out. WOT = main jet size, a smaller jet will give less gas (leaner).

what about the plug being dried soot and not oily and wet, i did raise the clip one and its now 3 from the top. so i want it to be leaner (less gas) to stop it from bogging wot?

I don't know if I have been lucky or what, but I have brought quite a few trikes back to life by just cleaning the carb and clearing all the jets and using factory settings on the needles. Air filter or not. Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki. It seems like alot of you guys just get a bum carb or something. Sorry to hear of your troubles but I don't know what to say.

Hey Daniel250r, are you still using the stock oil injection or are you premixing the gas if you are using the oil injection system you need to adjust it or block it off and run premix also if you don't use a air filter it will run like crap because the air fuel mixture is going to be wrong, Have you done a compression test on it and what were the results?

the premix is gone on it just mixing 32:1. havent done a compression test but i can pull it over with a rope around the fly wheel easy and i get basically no resistance

I would do a compression test to find out what its at, hopefully it will be around a hundred psi if it is low I would try rebulding it and getting a air filter, but thats just my two cents do what you want.
Here's a place to get wiseco piston and rings cheap.
