Hi, guys! I was play'n around with different powder colors tonight and decided on this metallic gold for this sectional I'm going to put on my flat tracker. It's a high temp powder coat good to 1000 deg. I guess I'm pretty happy with it and well... it's different, anyway! What do you all think? I can go over it with something else if it doesn't grow on me.
By the way here are some other pics of a refurbished Westcoast standard swinger I just completed to be installed soon, and the project bike. I' should start a thread of the build at the beginning from the frame up, I guess. Maybe soon when time permits! Thanks guys for any comments, suggestions, and/or questions! -Andy :beer

Andy,

I think the pipe looks great myself…. Should accent the bike well. Would love to see it bolted up but regardless, great job on the powder coating!

Please do keep us posted on the build! I know a lot of members would like to watch your progress, including myself!

By the way… Where did you get that number plate? I am in dire need of two red ones right now?

Thanks, atcman77. I'll keep posting with this engine swap and other progress with this flat track trike. I have a couple # plates here, I'll PM you later (after church service) with details. Thanks! -Andy ;)

Will powdercoat hold up to the heat on an exhaust pipe? One of the local PC places here told me it wouldn't. He might have been thinking about 4-stroke pipes though. I'd love to PC my paul turner flat black.

The above gold powder coat I used is good to 1000 deg. and should be fine. If you are going to see extreme temps, there are some ceramic based paints that will withstand 2000 deg. The high temp "grill" rattle can paint that I've used in the past on some OEM pipes and silencers is cheap as hell and wears reasonably well. The cool thing is it can be touched up very easily and blends perfectly. Low buck, no thrills , but looks like factory OEM. Maybe try that for your Paul Turner. I know there are some that will frown on anything that comes in a rAttle can, but in some situations its not all that bad!

Rattle can "grill" paint was used on these three exhaust systems(below). The heat shields where powder coated flat black. The "grill" rattle can paint is still perfect even where the fender support wire rubs the silencer each time the seat/fenders are removed or installed on my TRX .:D It's really not bad stuff!

 :wondering That's sweet! Anytime you write "RATTLE CAN" in your post "edog" supersedes it unless you capitalize it. Just another sign of love by the administrators! HA HA!!!!!:beer

The funny thing is..... It seems to work well on exhausts.

Rattle can Hi Temp paint actually holds up pretty well. I'm unsure if it's the heat thats exposed to it, but "something" definitely acts as a catalyst for the high temp paint.

I used Hi temp PC on my header and it turned a duller color but did not flake off. I was also jetted very very lean and who knows what temperature my header was running at.

It really is just a constant learning curve.... The "fuel resistant" Satin black at about 40$ for 16oz wipes off with race gas so I'll look to another brand next time I coat an engine where race gas will get on the finish.

It's not the motors fault I've had the fuel bowl off 75 times and dripped 1oz of 108 race fuel on it each time!!

Thanks a lot NINJA!! I will elaborate later with a new "Build " thread. Funny no one else noticed though!   :beer
