The '84 BR down the street from me showed up on Craigslist last night. I've had my eye on that bike for 3 years now. It's mint, not showroom mint, never been put away dirty mint. I've got an '83 and am working towards 85-87 series. In the meantime this '84 has had me going for a while and now it's for sale.

Asking price $1,000.

I might beg the Mrs. to let me buy it. I show it to my Dad every time the guys garage door is open! I'd buy it to use it not to look at so what really is the right price? Is it worth 800?

From your description, it's worth every penny of $1000

Its worth what it is worth to you. If you have the $1000 to spend on it, take it and try to talk him down. If you can walk away from the deal satisfied, then it was well worth the money. In the long run, what we think doesn't mean a whole lot.

the price is fair if it's in perfect shape and mechanically sound. since he probebly knows who you are via sight, then see if he will work out a better proce for you. he may knock off $900 for ya. but yea if you want it and got the $ better strike while the iron is hot! if not it gets cold really fast....
