I started tearing into my 85 Big Red yesterday. Basically i've just removed about everything, just to see what kinda shape things are in. I'm having a hella hard time busting loose the motor mount bolts, i'm gonna try heating them and trying a breaker bar to see if i can get 'em off. This will be a slow process, i'll have to buy parts/get things painted as $$$$ allows. Her's a couple of pics:

And just for good measure, here's a pic of my 83 200E during a recent ice storm. This trike was put to work hauling up huge limbs to be cut.....it performed great!

I bought the '85 Big Red over a year ago, and just haven't done anything to it. It has a couple of bolts broken off in the cylinder head, i'm gonna see if i can easy out 'em. I'm gonna need lots of advice and parts so keep a lookout for me guys!

I had the same problem with motor mount bolts on both my ES & SX. The bolt and the aluminum together corrode together real bad. On the SX I had to cut the one bolt off on both sides of the mount and then drill the bolt out of the motor. I have another BR I will be working on and if you run into a extra gas tank that is good let me know. Need one bad.

I'm afraid that's what i'm gonna have to do also, Hublake. If i do much more to these bolts i'm going to end up rounding them off anyway. My gas tank is also junk, it's full of rust, and if you look closely in the pics you can see where it was JB welded. I may end up going with a Clarke if i can't find a decent one locally. Will keep an eye out for one though.

Well take your time and you should have a nice big red. I have done anything from a ground up restore, to just build up nice rider and they all turn out great in my eyes.
I have a couple 87s and 85s and love them all.
