Here's the 89 Suzuki I bought for the girl to ride, anyone know what model it is? its a 250 4-stroke, the last owner called it a quadracer, but everything ive found on quadracers say they're 2-strokes, quadrunner, or quadsport maybe, Its my first suzuki

The quad could be a QuadSport 250...they did make them in 230 and 250cc. which way does the kicker go? 230s kicked out sideways while 250s kicked forward, I think.
So you cleaned the trike - put on a set of hang guards before doing some wheelies, then took the hand guards back off and went riding?
rock n roll!

I believe it is a 230 quadsport if it is kick start, and if it is electric start or semi auto trans (can't remember which) it is a quadrunner, the quadracer is 2 stroke. Those old 230's can take some serious abuse, but keep an eye on the hokey gear shifter lever linkage. They used mini hiem joints to keep the shifter at a standard position for easy leverage but those joints always wear out. I have seen people use a shifter from a different bike that will go onto the splines of the shifter shaft but that puts the end where your toe is too far out, then they cut the shifter lever and move the toe point back to make a stubby shifter. It's a great upgrade to get rid of the hiems--I want to say they are like nylon or something. BTW nice crowd pleaser on the SX! Been a while on the suzukis looks like they did make a 250 in 89, still looks like the old 230's though.

the quad electric and a pull start, and is semi auto. I know what you mean about the shift linkage, its sloppy as all hell. I had thought about finding a shifter that would go on to the shaft and cutting it down, I've only had it a couple of days as of yet, and havent had time.

how fast does it go?

top end is higher than the sx, and the honda speedo says thats just under 50mph. The Sx gets there a little quicker though. I cleaned the motor up and found the stamp on it today 229cm3 so it a 230. is there a way to be sure about the year by the vin?

thanks for not wearing a helmet and hurting the sport even more.
especially while doing wheelies... good one.
the activists need no fuel for the fire, theres enough on forums, magazines and youtube to support the closure of all spots.
thanks again... for NOT wearing a helmet

Electric starter with a pullstarter backup semi auto,,... Suzuki LT230E. does it have reverse?

(I have pics of both your bikes in the link in my siggy)
not a bad SX either.... ;)
Check his location twilight... I dont think S. Carolina has any kind of helmet laws) or at least ya coulda been a little nice about it. its his choice. . lol

There is no helmet law here, although i do wear one when i go riding. I normally do not, however, completely gear up with gloves and the bucket when i first pull the bike out of the garage, to let it warm up while i pull the quad out and get my stuff together. If i were to go riding and become a statistic with no helmet on, i'd be hurting the sport. I wondered how long it would take before someone said something about it though.
Thanks for all help with the quad info guys. And Chris, it does indeed have reverse.

oh, haha, wound all the way out in top gear the speedo reads 55-56, but my GPS navi only says 50-51. Thats wound allll the way out, I've only done it once, on flat, really hard packed dirt. Wringing out a 20+ year motor doesnt sit well with me, but I had to see what she's got

Read the rules TWILIGHT or do not post at all.
I did read the rules
"All riding pictures or videos posted on the forum whether linked or attached must depict the riders wearing minimal safety gear (This means a helmet). If you post pictures of you or your friends riding without a helmet then theres a fair chance the post will get deleted. If in life or death circumstances where you absolutely positively HAVE TO post a picture of someone riding without a helmet then draw one onto them with Windows paint or similar application."
Maybe you should?
