are those the lonestar billet hubs? if so, how tightly do they fit to the axle...I've heard some reports they are slightly loose, which leads to spline failure...

looking good so far...get the whole frame polished when done.

I 've heard the same thing,a friend install them on a 400ex and axle nut was always loose and cut the cutterpin.heck this if you want to keep your wheels.

HE could meen like a service honda AF500 conversion (cr500 motor) but thats a better conversion when smashed into a cr250 frame not the 450 frame.

You're doing a fine job and that 450rx will spank most bikes.

I just can't understand the 2 stroke bias. I like 2 strokes as much as the next guy - but once you have a 450 4 stroke trike - you understand usable power put to the ground vs wheel spin. I have a 500cc 2 stroke trike also - and I can honestly say I can turn way faster track times on the 450 - let alone the composure you can maintain on the trails.

I look forward to seeing this 4 stroke build continue. Nice work thus far - keep it up!

Thanks guys....

what is rake?
sorry for my english....

Do you speak Italian or Greek? Either way:

Hope this is right, I don't think google translate is that accurate.

I dont think he changed the rake. Pretty sure the 05 and up CRF has a real tight steering stem angle, which explains why Jason has one hanging on his wall in the shop. lol Looks perfect for a trike! Great job so far!!!

Xmode, your frame Is a 02-04. The 05 frame has a different front engine mount, the bolt goes straight through the frame without mounting plate's. The reason It looks like he built negative rake Into his triple's Is because the CRF fork tubes are smaller In diameter at the top triple than they are at the bottom one. He Is setting his up In the beginning with the axle leading, so as long as he puts the top rear shock mount In the correct spot, he wont make the same mistake I did. I already had my rear shock mounted, so I couldn't tip the frame to set my rake and wheel base correctly. If he sets the frame up with steeper rake, the front lower engine cradle will be tipped downward slightly, but won't hurt a thing!!! Looks Nice Xmode!!!

I will be starting to hack on my 05 frame as soon as I get caught up on a few project's. Here Is a pic of a 05 frame. They're alot lighter, and have a bit steeper rake angle.

looks like your planning on using the crf rear shock, any worries abou this with the extra weight that it will be carring? Im using a peps valved 400ex shock with a custom mount somewhat like jason's. My big issue right now, the only thing really stoping me from riding it is that i cannot fidgure out a decent air filter set up and my rear brake. I am using trx450r pegs(move the mount foward and down from the stock crf placement) and cannot fidgure out how to get a brake lever to clear with out making my own. I know that when speedbump did his cr250 conversion he tried using the stock cr pegs and did not like them at all.
Good luck its fun and really exciting to watch come together especially after you can sit on it. just dont rush it.

audioworks04
05-10-2009, 11:32 PM
Also jason is right about the frame, mines an 05 and like jason said the front mount goes through a tab on the frame(no plates). Also if you plan to us the trx450r exhaust it mounted up great on my head pipe and all, just have to use an 06 and up trx450r or er water pump cover with a spacer on the impeller to get the radiator hoses routed around it.

as you can see i made a costum down side for the shock of the crf to feet the trx parts...i think that it works better than the stock one...

What kicker lever are you using? Doesnt look like you had to trim your fenders at all. Also looks very short. Is it hard to kick? Mines pretty hared to kick with the stock crf450r kicker (13:1 compression doesnt help) and also had to trim my fenders back.

Looks great man, but wheres the air coming from? It looks like you sealed off the factory snorkle spot when you made your front. Id run an outerware and ditch that lid or make your own version of the hrc lid.

How does your bike handle on the road? Also off road? Any problems with the handling or the power in either setting? Lastly any thing you would change about your build if you could do it again?
