View Full Version : Magazine Scans/ Posting whole magazines??? What do you think? *PICS*

I have an idea. I would like to either start a web page myself or post magazines here possibly? I'm sure this is something many you would enjoy, but as to how or where is something I'm still thinking over. I have a pretty vast collection of old ATC/ATV magazines. I would like to scan each one, possibly cover to cover. Maybe one or two per month as something for everyone to enjoy and take info from. I think our younger members could educate themselves, and answer a lot of their often asked questions about trikes we rode long before their time. Anyway, I can't wait to post 'em up so any suggestions are appreciated. I would like to post them myself rather than mail them to someone. I have a decent color scanner able to scan full individual pages. Maybe the administrators here would give their blessing to one full magazine per month??? I realize this may overload the server or picture space here. Like I said I could start a site myself if this would create a problem. So, chime in here guys (and gals). Let me know your thoughts on this idea!-Andy

I think just the worthwhile articles....I saw a review on all the 85/86 250r pipes with pictures and info that I thought would be great for identification.

Great idea. I'm really interested myself on what exactly that trike on the first cover is. Looks like first gen 200x plastic and possible frame, but not a 200x motor.

I was thinking xl 250 motor. I've got one and it looks daringly smilar. Could be a 350 or a 500 though. Either way id love to read about it...

I can help with the hosting if Billy or Dan doesn't want to do it. My little site that I put together in one afternoon and haven't touched it since (www.triketrash.com) could use some content since there's basically nothing in it yet.
Just make sure when you start scanning that the resolution is high enough to make everything easy to read.

I have contacted Billy G. recently on this idea and will post up his thoughts, if he doesn't himself. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as to this working out, but realize it may take up to much picture space or something.
"Dammit"^^^^^- Thanks for the offer! Let's see what pans out here first, but I really want people to enjoy these old publications. I, like others, have spent too much money collecting these old mags and hate to sell them or just see them sit in my file cabinet forever. Lets all learn and enjoy!!:) I've purposed one magazine per month. Hopefully this would not bog down the picture space or logistical integrity of this site. And, well..... I'm sure one a month is all I'll have time for currently. Thanks for everyone's input! -Andy :beer

IT'S A GO!!!!!!!!
So, I'll start this weekend hopefully. I, in the past had many earlier issues, but like a dumb trailpro trailpro trailpro trailpro, I sold them off! So I'll just start with the earliest I've got. I think '84. If anyone else is interested in helping out with earlier issues please stand up. I'll experiment with size quality as I don't want everyone to have to squint to read this stuff, but also hate having to scroll left to right to read each line.
I guess with that said, I should apologize for posting edog size pictures in the past.:D:lol:
I have a 15" screen and well... the bottom (#2) version seems to be the no-brainer way to go. What do you guys and gals think?
Let me know how you all feel about the quality of these two sizes. V V V V V V Thanks!
TOP#1:) ???

First off let me just say that you rock! I love reading the old vintage mags, and this will be an awesome addition to the forums. If I had to choose between the two I would say the bottom one..lol I'm probably not the best person to chime in because I have 20/30 vision, so maybe someone more blinder(?) could comment?
The bigger the better to be honest.
What I do over at airfoolers.com is make a thumbnail of each page that links to a much bigger, readable image.

Just an update. I've gotten a very late start this weekend on scanning. Anyway I will be working late (SUN.) tonight to hopefully get this first trial run of Jan.'84 up for everyone. This is going to take a while!:wondering

BB, thumbs up on this....and the effort is much appreciated!
I had a huge collection of 'wheeler mags in '83-'87, and would love to see them again in any form. I used to carry several 3-wheeler magazines to school with me (almost)every day. I started out just reading them in my spare time, then.....ended up being told to leave them in my locker when I got caught(more than once) reading them instead of doing my schoolwork..lol.
Edited to add: Kinda funny that here I sit 20-something years later reading 3-wheelerworld when I'm supposed to be(about to be) helping my youngest boy(6-yo) with his homework........guess some things never change:)
