well this trike is finally in good hands.....
Been slowly building it up without going broke (I have 6 of these trikes now). Sold my 86 350x for this beast. I always had a soft spot for the late style tecates. This will be my rider and a spare for show...:naughty:
Just put a dg silencer on it to save some weight and save my oem silencer from damage. Also got a hell of a deal on those razrs/rims.
Still needs some things worked out but i only have so much time during the weeks to wrench on it since i spend all my time in NYC these days. every time i get off this bike I am smiling and laughing like a kid again- thats what its all about.....
Next on the list:
flywheel for prevention
carb - try and fix the floats
lights - thinking of an 85 tecate style light - off center and mounted on top tripple
plastics - last after mechanically sound. $$

I took a chance on the kx80 front plate. Its the only kawi one that had the vents to break it up. Its a little small but seems to look good. Need to find a sheet of black vinyl decal to recover it and some "86" numbers will look sweet.
I was blasting some major donuts in the street yesterday with the new tires.

Looks good, love the zip ties on the front fender and IMO, that number plate has gotta go...

Ahhh Chris - you always notice the best details. I have been really searching for vintage stickers lately. Got two more shrooms sticks in my stash.
I need to get some reproduced.

I have one of those headlights if you are interested in one. I was lucky and able to find a headlight frame, so I can go back to stock look. However, I might get my uncle to see if he could duplicate it.

You and deepa are killing me. I actually like the plate. I have yet to hear back from anyone on here trying those DC Plastics plates on an 86. I remember Aussie duner was making those and something didnt look right to me when mounted. So i opted to not make a 60 dollar msitake and bought this 10 dollar plate instead.
The plate on mine is a Maier. I sent my 2nd plate out to aussie a few years ago. Haven't heard a thing from him since he first got it. Not sure if he worked the mold or not.
I looked at the DG plate meat-box has on his 85. The way it bows out to zip-tie on the forks is the best place to mod it. no radiator to get around on the 86/87, trim the tabs off , trim the top and bottom of the plate to set it back closer to the trip trees. i think it would be fine on a 86/87, it is wider a bit but the way plastic flexes i think it would work and look good.

Yeah I remember aussie had one built but it didnt look right to me. I am actually waiting for one of his airbox covers for when i reinstall the airbox on this bike.
His plate looked too fat and big, if i remember correctly. So i assumed the DC one was the same. someday when i got nothing else to buy, i will try it out.
Thanks.
