I dont have before pictures but I can tell you that it sat in the woods uncovered for thirteen years. I had to dig the tires out of the ground and scrape the moss off the seat and fenders. but hear are a few pics of what it looks like after a little elbow grease and a year of work.

That is really starting to look nice. Have you had a chance to ride it yet with the suspension front end? You will like it alot better. Wish I would have had more of the parts you needed for you. You gotta recover that seat, it will make a world of difference on how your trike looks. Did you get that front brake all cleaned up and working nice? The front brake is a nice addition. Some people don't run them to keep the weight off so it will wheelie easier. Now you just need the 175 bits and the rear suspension and you'll be good to go! LOL Get those rims cleaned up and painted and get those fork boots on. Great job, keep going and don't give up now.

yeah these pictures are after I took it down the street a couple of times that's why you see spots of mud on the fenders, I did get the front brake all cleaned up and painted, I just don't have the piece that the cable attaches to on it, but when I get one I will put the cable and lever on it and as for the shock boots I am waiting so I can go to the store and make sure there going to work on the front end. By the way I did recover that seat and I don't think it looks that bad.

Looking great! Im in the same boat. I have also found a YT 125 in a grove, and am planning on getting it look good. The motor does run if you give it a shot of gas, but the carburetor is shot and will need replacing. It seems pretty solid otherwise. I pressure washed it after I picked it up, and there was 1/2 inch of grease covering the engine, and mushrooms growing on the front fender! Also had to claen the mouse nests out of the exhaust. Im just suprised it still runs after it had been sitting for all those years. You never know what people just leave sitting in their groves outside. A lot of times they will give it to you for nothing, and other times they wont sell if their life depends on it. I got my eye on a guy that has a bunch of atc 90's, 110's, 200e and 200x roller just sitting in a grove. Well see if I can add more junk to my collection. Great work on the tri moto 125!!

I had one that I paid a hundred bucks for but could not get it to run, so I showed it to my buddy to help me to get it to run and he said that he had a neighbor up north that had one just setting out in the woods since he was ten years old, so he asked the guy about it and the guy said if we could get it out the woods we could have it, so we used my Buddy's 4 wheeler and shovel and pulled it out, the funny thing is that the motor was in better shape then the one I paid for so I put the two together and now I got a good trike

Yeah sorry it took so long to get them up, I ended up having my buddy use his phone and then he posted them in my photobucket account for me. I am also going to edit it to one picture so I don't have to wait five minutes to view this thread. Sorry my computer sucks

I see how it goes. Get my parts and bust my balls! LOL I look forward to you having it finished, and then starting your next mod. 175 I believe? So you are going to get the 125 decals and have a little sleeper hotrod on your hands???? If you like the front suspension, you'd love the rear suspension. Keep us posted on the build. Best of luck.

It looks good. Did you spend hours sanding the plastics, they look nice. The seat looks ok, the cover just needs to be stretched more to tighten it up. Putting a seat cover on a metal pan is lot harder then a plastic pan, most of the time when I am working with a metal pan my first attempt looks a lot worse then that!
How’s it run?

yeah I sanded the plastic to bring them back to life they were all white and chalky, I have over six hours in the front fender alone and it runs like a cheetah on cocaine.

I have a 1981 Tri Moto 125 that I am trying to restore. I need a few pointers guys!! And I got a ways to go, but, if I find a front fork/suspension off of a 175, will it bolt right up? And, if by some miracle I find a 175, does it bolt right up, or will there be some welding of new motor mounting brackets be involved. And, lastly for now, LOL, when it comes to sanding plastics, any tips for that as well? Sorry for all the Q's, just open for any and all help. Thanks!!!
hey gringo! what part of ga you in? I think A bud of mine nearby has a suspended front end.

When you get the 175 front end make sure that you get the front axle with it because it is slightly longer then the 125 front axle and as for the question about the engine the only difference's between the 125 and 175 is the cylinder, cylinder head, piston, bigger carburetor and the exhaust, other then that the lower ends of both the 175 and 125 are identical so it will bolt right into the frame.
Here's a link to restoring plastic's.

The yt175 engine will bolt right up. But if you find a complete 175, why would you need to bolt the engine into your 125 frame? There are some small differences between the 125 and 175 frame but the engines are interchangable from either frame. There are even rear suspesion kits. Do a search on here for Pro Tec suspension kit and you will see. Welcome and best of luck with your trike. The 1980 and 1981 yt 125 lower ends are alot different, mainly in the clutch department. Also the 175 uses a vacuum operated fuel pump. The mounting points for the exhaust are different on the 125 and 175 frames. Also the 82 and later bearing carriers are different than the 80 and 81 bearing carriers as well as the shift linkage. Front headlight and choke and throttle cable mounts are different on the 80 and 82 as opposed to the 82 and later frames.

hey gringo! what part of ga you in? I think A bud of mine nearby has a suspended front end.
I am in Columbus, GA. If you have a friend with a front end/fork, the whole set up, DUDE, HOOK ME UP!!
And, for the rest of you guys, thanks for all the help. I have not done much with the 3 wheeler as of yet. I honestly thought the motor was locked up. I went out to my shed the other day, cleaning up a few things, about to trade it off, and pulled on the cord. Was stuck at first, buuuttt, and a few pulls, good to go. And I got spark too. The ATC needs some work though, but I want to fix her up.
As for the 125 and 175 motors, would I be in just as good a shape just getting the cylinder and a piston? And lastly, isi there a way to set my email up where I will get notice to my replies on here??? Thanks!!! From a newbie!

You can just get the cylinder, cylinder head, piston, bigger carburetor and the exhaust and have a 175, as for the email notice you have to go into user cp at top of the page and set that up.
