This started out last week my sister was looking at a pickup on ebay, well she bought it. Shipping sketchy and she was worried about getting ripped off since she has never bought anything that big on ebay.
Plans were set I was togo from Dodge City Ks, KC, Dallas, Pensacola Fl at 1:45 in the afternoon. Drive pickup back and I was going to look around some never been down in that area before.
Friday morning I got up at 3:45am and went to Dodge City Ks airport for a 5:30 flight. Everything was looking good we were going to leave early only 2 on flight to KC. National weather station was broke down, and a plane with passengers can't fly without a letter from them saying weather is good (it was a perfect day). Flight was delayed then finally cancelled at 10:00. Got different flight plans, drove 50 miles west to Garden City Ks, then flew to Denver, Charlotte, Pensacola, finally got to Pens at 11:20 pm. Seller of the pickup picked me up, I looked it over, we done paper work and I left. I went to a truck stop and checked all fluids, fueled up and looked it over real well for before the trip. I then drove to Mobile Alabama.
At 3:00am I was trying to check into a Super8 somewhere around the tunnel at Mobile. Habeeb Hussein Obama was working he said he had many rooms he said $69.95, I told him no way, he said how much you pay, not that, he told me $50, I said no. He said I have to make money, I told him no way and left. My thought is a room is only worth half price at that time of night, at least they get some $ for a room that was never rented. I have stayed in hotels 3 times with a Habeeb running it and everytime it was crap and I felt like I had been violated so I wasn't doing it again. I went to truck stop and slept in pickup from 3:30 to 6:00am.
6:40am I pulled onto I10 with some super radar detecter/jammer I got from a guy at work, he said I could drive as fast as I wanted without fear. I drove I10 from Mobile, Biloxi, Baton Rouge, Grosse Tete, lafayette. Driving 80 minimum entire way.
Then turned onto I49 and drove 85-100mph clear to Shreveport, only stopping at Alexandria to get gas. Then got on I20 and went to Dallas still driving like a madman. Got through Dallas and onto I35 to OKC I had to stop at Marietta Ok and get fuel. Went clear to Watonga Ok and topped off with fuel and needed coffee. Then drove on into Cimarron Ks and pulled into my drive way at 11:19pm.
I was just doing some math. I drove 1238 miles total from Pensacola Fl to Cimarron Ks. 1176 miles from Mobile to Cimarron Ks in 16 hours 39 minutes. That is a 70.84 mph average. Pretty good with 3 stops.
Things I learned on trip
People in Louisiana are superfast drivers it was amazing to get that many people driving that fast in groups for that long of distance.
Carls Jr is still nasty.
Mississippi river is amazing everytime I cross it.
40 miles of swamp bridge in La is cool.
You can get monkey butt from driving vehicle.
I10 has a camper dealer every 5 miles
"The Goat" really needs a airboat more then a Scion for living in Grosse Tete. That enitre area looks like nothing but scenes from "The Swamp Thing". You need to know that I have to drive 70 miles to find a tiny lake to put a small boat in.
I guess next trip I will take time to look at things in that area.
