I'm working on it. I don't know if my X will be woods worthy but I can always ride my 4x4.

Try and get that X back together John!!! or let me ride that big comfy 4x4 and you can ride my X all day. :lol: shens

I might take you up on that offer. I've got the X project scheduled for Monday. I've gotta raise it back up, give it a once over, a fresh plug, some fresh fuel, put the skid plate back on, and take the studded tires off the back. Is the noise from the DG pipe gonna be a problem? If it is I can put the spark arrestor discs back on so it'll be a little tamer.

I wouldn't worry about the pipe too much...

I was riding off the White Haven exit on 80 a couple of times, its pretty rocky there too. Around here we like to say that we grow rocks so I'm ready for them. In the woods behind ChrisD's old house you were basically in 1st and 2nd gear climbing rocks the whole time.

Obviously I was tinkering with the color in this photo a bit (I dont have the original anymore:cry: ) but this was taken someplace between white haven and mountiantop a few years back. Lots of good ridng out that way for sure.

But yeah some of the trails up here can be pretty bad. last summer me, Al, and my kid were out on this one trail and all 3 atv's were disabled before the end of the day. :rolleyes: Al busted a ball joint, I tore off my skid plate ,and my kid destroyed a rim on his lakota. Needless to say we havent been back on that particuliar trail since. :lol:

Can't wait!!!! where's the rest of these local yocals??? Mo? Wheeliepop?

If it's all right with you and everyone else, I'd like to make it Sunday so John and his buddy's can make it.

We also have another option to park the trucks at Raziel's (Al's) house. he's only two blocks from the woods. Only problem there is we have yet to find a way over to BM from there. lots of good riding tho...

Heck ya lots of room. we had about 15 guys over Al's last august.. lol I think he wants to torment his neighbors one last time before he moves.... but they are cool.

Dont have to worry about the trucks being vandelized either. But it's totally up to you guys...

Its funny that you mention the trucks being vandalized Chris. I only went to White Haven twice but a guy that brought me there went a bunch of times and the last time he went someone broke into his truck and stole his wallet. It sucks that even in the country stuff like that happens. I've gotta get busy on my X this weekend. :w00t:

yeah John that is a problem around here. I know Josh has had his gas cans stolen from the back of his truck out in beaver meadows. What makes it easy is the parking is kinda secluded which is like an open invitation to kids.

Al lives at the end of a dead end street and has neighbors that keep an eye on each other so to speak. So I think with the amount of trucks coming we may be better off leaving from his house. better safe than sorry ya know...

A 200s should be fine.. but you'll be sore for about a month without suspension after this one.

If you do a search for hazleton rides here on the forums or 3wheeler.org you should be able to tell from the pics what type of terrian to expect. theres also some in my signature on bikepics.

Al.. what'da hear about the house? should we plan on parkin somewhere else? Like our oringal plan? If that's the case It maybe a good idea to compress everyone and their bikes into only a few trucks. and leave the valueables at home.

just wanna weigh the options here so everyone has a great time and no worries.

That will work for me. I spent half the day today getting my X ready for the woods. Its been so long since I rode it I had to tear into the carb and clean it out but its running good now. This might be its last ride before it gets torn all the way down for a minor resto.

yeah, there's a Hampton Inn as soon as you get off the exit from 81. can't miss it.

those guys taking 80 have to get off and take rt 93 a few miles to the top of the mountian. you'll see the signs and its real easy to find.

As far as the X, The frame still has that small imperfection :cry:. its fine to ride on a road but I dare not trail ride it. I hate those frames. You have fun, I have beer here I'll drink :beer

Man I would ride with you guys, but I work saturday night throught tuesday night this upcoming weekend 8pm-8am. Plus it's probably a 2-3 hour drive from my place here in Huntingdon.

I hope to make it out sometime soon though, hopefully find a place I can even get close to hitting 5th gear in this new machine.

At one point yesterday there was between 20-25 riders. Only bad part about that is the dust is absolutly terrible.

Edit: Any of you guys coming here intrested in a set of 20 inch mudlights? (still like new and no plugs) I'm looking for something in 22" that fits a 9 inch rim. even trade?

For those guys that were never here before. This route we're taking this ride consists mostly of polelines, rocky dirt roads, and wide open very fast coal roads.. With the occasional silt pit throwin in. there's gonna be plenty of hillclimbing oppertunities for those guys that like that sort of thing too. The only real difficult parts of the trail I can think of is there's a few dirt piles to drive over where they blocked the roads off. which can get kinda hairy at times. There's gonna be some rocky sections too so I encourage running skidplates.

What I'm planning is that either me or Al will lead the way and one of us will stay in the back of the pack. This way if we get seperated (which tends to happen with large groups like this) there will always be someone close by that knows their way around (well, for the most part lol)

I encourage all you guys to bring a helmet, googles, and a cellphone in a ziplock bag. SO be sure to write down my cell number I posted above.

Some sections are still very muddy from all the snow melt and they're calling for more rain this week. It's only supposed to be in the 40's so it would be wise to dress accordingly.

It'll most likely be an all day ride so we gotta figure something out for food as well. I dont wanna send you guys home on an empty stomach.

Hey.. any of you guys bringin a big 4x4 with racks? If your willing to tote it.. I was thinkin we could bring some stuff for a grill to munch on.

We got a real kickass campsite that's out in the middle of nowhere we can stop for a midday break,, there's even a few small hillclimbs and a creek we can play in while we cook lunch???

I didn't get to work on the X today and I'm very tempted to just bring the 4x4 since it has racks. Two of the guys that are supposed to come with me will be on 4x4's with racks so I'm guessing someone will have one. We need another 4x4 to haul the beer!

The only thing I'm waiting on for the X is the fork seals and oil but they are supposed to be here tomorrow. I couldn't bear to ride it again with fork oil puking out of the seals. I'm hoping to do the seals tomorrow and unless something goes horribly wrong when I try to do them I don't see any reason it won't be done. I'm hoping wrap it up tomorrow.

John, if ya want to bring the 4x4's that'll be great. I got a small propane grill and a few small, soft coolers that will be need to be strapped down. the more racks that show up the better. (plus you can always just unhook them if ya feel like gettin nuts at the play areas.) and I already mentioned, your more than welcomed to rip around on my X for a while no problems.

update on the weather. this weekend so far is looking better than last. ;) sunny and near 60 for saturday and sunday. We'll probably be riding both days.:naughty:

Chris here is a pic of the tires and rims. Edges of the rims have a couple small dents/bends. We could straighten them They were on my 200x so 4 110 pattern unless it had different hubs. I can always bring them up for you to take a look at.

Look back a couple of pages skippy. Chris mentioned it was a hotel right near the intersection of 81 and 80.

The X is over at my buddy's house right now. I cleaned it up all nice, I forgot how good it looks when its cleaned up. Its not a beauty queen but its decent and its faster than a piped 250R. We're gonna weld it up on Saturday afternoon and load it up for the ride.

I'll be on my 350X, my cousin is supposed to be on his 350X, and my other two buddies on their 4x4's. If riverrat comes I'm sure he'll have his 250R, his 4x4 for his one son, and his other son will be on a 110.

I am questionable for the weekend. I spent the day in the hospital yesterday getting blood work and a catscan. They found something in my intestine. My stomach feels like a truck hit it, not good for riding. Sucks too, because me and the kids really want to go. We'll see what happens.

Probably lookin at between 9 and 10 AM meet at my house on Sunday.

Me and Chris will probs hit the trails on Saturday and get a feel for the terrain again(i.e. branches blocking and stuff like that)If anyone wants to come up saturday into sunday that's fine, we'll hook you up with a place to crash. food, whatever ya need.

Please make sure the machines that are coming are trustworthy cuz we'll be pretty far out there and no one is gonna wanna be towed.

Plan on about a 6 or 7 hour ride too.:drool:

I want to come out, but i need to clear up a couple things first and see if anyone else wants to go. If not this time, i'll make it out for the next one. Plus i think the only thing i have with the swinger skidplate is the R and it really hasn't been ridden more than 15 minutes since november. Maybe i'll ride the R around here saturday and then head out there on sunday depending on what the official day is. What about gas? Any chance we can loop back to the vehicles mid day? I hate walking.

John thats a real bummer on the frame, my very low hour all original 85 has the same spot welded on it and it was done before 87 which is when the previous owner bought it. As you can see the motor still has the factory paint markings on the head and the underside. Must have been a really weak point due to torque or something, TC...

WE have yet to burn through a whole tank of gas. but If soomne needs to hear back I'm sure either mo or Al will accomadate. on most rides we bring everthing we need with us so going back trhough town ins't necessary. We'll play it as it comes tho. with this many rides where bound to have a few hangups.

A patch kit and can of fix O flaxt isn't a bad idea either. alot of tires will be out there this weekend. so it's only a matter of time... and I ahte seeings someones day cut short over something simple.

Well i'm gonna have the R out on saturday a little and make sure it's ready to roll (no reason it wont be) I dont really burn a ton of gas i was just wondering, because i'd bring that other 350 i just got instead but i know it sucks down a lot of gas. Anyway i'm still 50/50 but if all goes well saturday i dont see any reason i wont make it out...

Im going to do the once over on my 350x today and tomorrow. It held up last time so I think I will be alright. My buddy and I will meet at Al's house unless we get lost. Then I will give you a call Chris and meet at the Hampton Inn.
Chris if I bring some beverages is there room in someones cooler. I have no way of hauling them?

Picked up the plugs abnd a can of fix o flat. only thing fo rme to do is a quick once over on the bike and change the oils

Still gotta run and get some tiedowns for the grill and coolers. then go food and beer shooping.

Ok me and Chris just went food shoppin for the ride on sunday.

Hot dogs
burgers
brats
potato salad
bottled water
We are making chicken and beef shish ka bobs tomorrow.

If anyone wants to bring anything else bring it and we'll grill it up.
Also if anyone has any small coolers they could bring for beverages that would be great.

Do the guys that are bringin the 4x4's have racks and tie downs?
Can they strap down a bigger cooler? or 2?

The X is welded up and ready to go. We're loading up in a little bit. I'll see you bishes tomorrow around 9:30. We're going to bring some beer and I'll see what I have as far as a mid-sized cooler. Two guys coming with me definitely have 4x4's with decent racks and I think one other one might be riding something with racks too. Would it be a good idea to strap a small gas can to the grab bar of my X? Just a little two gallon job. I don't want to get caught out in the middle of the woods without fuel.

Some pics of today. Great ride. Nice to meet some members and others. Still stuffed from the brats. Got to do this from your new place Al, and break in the neighbors lol. Besides an early break down there were no major problems and no crashes that were bad.

Dam, looks like you guys had fun, and got to ride on some awesome trails. I spent the day in the ER with tons of freakin pain. Worse thing is they still haven't told me what I have, they are not sure. I have to go to a specialist today.

I really hope I can get out there at some other point and ride with you guys. My kids would have loved it too!

I hope it ain't nothin' too serious riverrat. I'm not too sure how the kiddies would've faired on this ride. most of the day was spent cruising wide open at full throttle. and the dust was absolutly terrible. :(

Thanks to Chris for putting this out there and Al for being an awesome host! It was great to meet Tom (oldtime), Al, and all the other guys from PA. I had a he11 of a good time out there. If I just hadn't lost my muffler on the trail I'd have had an even better day. :( I'm looking forward to coming out there again. Unfortunately I've got a ton of work to do on the house so I probably won't be making another ride until sometime in the late spring or early summer. If anyone is riding around the Hazleton area and comes across a chrome DG muffler with Supertrapp discs on it PM me, its mine. :lol: Thanks again and all of us NY/NJ guys had an awesome time. My buddy on the Polaris 4x4 said we did about 35 miles yesterday!

I just need a weekend to wrench on my 350x. Cracked a section of the skidplate and have to free up the header bolts to tighten up. Plus may need to throw a new clutch in it. Then again it was running strong so whenever you guys want to go Im in, except this weekend.

Thanks Chris. Don't feel obligated to hunt it down, I've heard back from DG and the guy said he would like some pictures of the broken mounts. He wants me to email a copy of the receipt. Its from several years ago so the fact that I only rode it 4 or 5 times in the woods probably won't matter, I think once they see how long ago I bought it they are gonna tell me to go screw. Maybe I'll see if I can photoshop the date on the receipt. :mad:

I spent about 20 minutes riding my cousin's buddy's Yamaha YFZ 450 (the one that made the ride) and I think I NEED one. Once I fix that exhaust on the X I think I'm going to seriously pursue selling it and buying a used 450.

Havent put any oil in it yet. when I drained it there was about 1/4 of a quart in there. may just say to hell with it and tear it all down regardless. I'll let you guys know when I move so we can plan a new ride. Might not be until the Beginning or middle of May though. Gonna be workin mad OT.

John R.. I have a pair of yfz's and I love them.. well most of the time! (except last week).. they run like R's and when you mod them, they scream! I have a nasty one that I race, and another I trail ride, both will pretty much rip yr arms off. I use to only ride red until I started these in 04.. !

Yup. The one I rode was jetted but not piped. He took the pipe off because it cracked and he's waiting to get it back from the manufacturer. It pulled like my ATC330R does but its got electric start and runs on pump gas. How can you go wrong? I really don't want to sell the X but once I get the exhaust back together I might just do it.

Threw some oil in the 300 and I think it sounds worse. real loud with a lower pitched thumping noise from the bottom end. Looks like a tear down. Or I'll see if I can find a 350X motor to slap in it :p :beer

I dont think the 350x conversion is all that difficult. Fab up some motor mounts,, reroute the exhaust and find a place for the oil cooler. If ya search the site a bit I'm sure you'll find a few good write ups.

then maybe you could keep up!:D and why arent you at work??? ..or have you caught the 3ww bug and are using your phone? :D

We forgot to show you that cemetery last weekend. it's not that far from the paved road where we were.. some of the graves are from the late 1800's. heck, next time your up well take a tour of the miner's muesum. :) its only a few hundred feet from the trail.

Even my woods bike gulps gas and I don't have the heart to bring the SX in the coal fields.
