I bought a set of rear axle bearings from DADS. The smaller bearing is sealed on both sides. The larger one is only sealed on one side. If I am not mistaken, the open side goes toward the inside. Why is this not sealed on both sides? Any reason for this? Thanks in advance.

Usually I pack the bearing carrier full of grease. When I removed my YTM-200E axle to replace the final drive gear, there was no grease in the carrier, but it was full of dust and dirt. I also needed to use the BF Hammer on the axle to unstuck it from the splines. Somes peoples also tap the carrier and put a grease fitting to lube it.

Are you supposed to fill it up with grease?

When I took it apart, there was nothing inside but dirt and rust.

I've been toying with the idea of filling up my 250sx axle with grease, for the same reason. Is that nuts?
