I'm going to send my Cal Fab swinger out this week to be powder coated. It was glass beaded a couple of years ago and I'm finally getting off my butt to get started on this Tecate I've got. I'm planning on just getting it coated in a metallic silver but I'd like opinions on what color to do it. The rest of the bike is basically stock as far as colors go so there isn't anything wild other than the Kawie green fenders. :)

polish it. a powder coat would hurt the value
Hey john.. can you post a picture of the bottom of the swinger? BRAPP's calfab has a skid plate, we got talking about the way his mounted and if it was something calfab offered.
THANKS

powdercoat will be way less maintenance than polished... and can always be removed at a later date..

polish it. Powdercoating makes it heavier.

I took a picture of the bottom but it isn't on the camera for some reason. I'll take another tomorrow. It looks like Josh's on the bottom, two tapped holes near the front and a bracket that bolts on that goes across the back with a threaded tab welded on. I'm anxiously awaiting his posting about what his friend is coming up with. If he doesn't come up with something I might look into having a buddy of mine TIG one up for me before I put the arm on.
I don't have the time to polish it myself and I'm guessing it will cost at least 3 or 4 times as much to have it polished as I am going to get it coated for. I'm also looking for the correct stickers. If anyone has info on anyplace that's reproducing them I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Polish it, then clear powder coat it.....Ah ha!
You got the itch after riding mik6's bike? I want one too now. Except I won't be doing much this year. This year is going to be tuff for me. I am all tapped out, will have to just ride what I got. I am hoping to buy a second house, so everything is going to go for that.

I'm sending gking a PM in a little bit. I don't really want the extra maintenance of polished but I don't ride it that much and if its going to be comparable in price to powder coating then I might do it. If anyone knows of where to get reproduction stickers for it please let me know.

Here is the picture I promised you Mike:

There is a bracket that bolts on between the "ears" that the axle carrier attach to and that bracket is where the back bolt that hold the skid plate on goes. I took the bracket off in preparation of sending the arm out but I do have it. So it seems to me like that was very likely something that either Cal Fab or one of the skid plate companies offered. It looks like it'd be really simple to fab up that plate. I have a nice thick piece of aluminum angle at work that I could use to make the sides of the plate where the chain and disc are protected and I'm sure my buddy that TIG's has a small piece of aluminum plate lying around that we could use for the center. Hopefully the one that Brapp is working on comes together soon so I don't have to build one.
