I believe Buster Brown uses a color from Columbia Coatings that he claims is a direct match......

This particular powder is from Columbia Coatings. It's called Super Mirror Red TGIC (S1796024S). You need about a 1/2 LB. to be safe for an ATC 250R sized frame. Put it next to a originally painted OEM Honda frame and it's perfectly matched and looks absolutely awesome! Best of all it's a much superior, shelved item, that's available any day, in any quantity. One really needs to see it applied in person to see the correct match and new look it gives. Some may say its over done, or possibly too shiny. IMO it's perfect! :naughty:

:wondering I haven't owned a 350X for about 10 years now, but the red I've used, matches the liquid ATC 250Rs quiet well. Honda does vary their colors from model to model and even from different generation years. Like the '88-'89 Honda TRX 250R frames are slightly different (more orange/red) than the'86-'87 previous TRX 250Rs. I usually will just buy 4-5 similar shades to find a perfect match. I wish I could say it's more scientific than that , but trial & error is about the only way to see what each powder will actually look like. I don't like to trust the small color samples from the catalog. Obviously, I can't be certain without actually seeing a OEM 350X frame, as to if it's the very same as the '85-'86 ATC 250Rs. Let me know if I can help you out any further. -Andy :)

I swear the red I use that matches my 86 350X/200X is actually labeled "High Gloss Honda Red" and it's sold at absolute powder coating.

Probably bought from Columbia Steve.

Since that frame is MUCHO nice. I would recommend a zinc base primer prior to powdercoat. And SERIOUS coater should do this ESPECIALLY with steel frames.

I've been doing some shopping around for some prices on getting my frame powdered, and found somebody locally. The price is very reasonable for me, and I don't need to ship, we all know how much of a pain that can be. This place is located right up the street from one of my customers, which can't be any more convenient in my opinion. The only thing I have to do is de-grease it, and they take care of the rest:w00t: .. I'm not sure of the turn around but, I'm not really worried about it. It's finally getting done:beer The guy also said that he's done 3 of these frames in the last month, and he has the color in stock, I thought it was kinda funny.. I'm psyched about being able to start this project:w00t:

A friend of mine had a set of "ape hanger" handlebars done there and they charged him $75 just to do the handle bars... I ended up finding a place in Derry NH

Ya know what I was thinking (probably too late of course....) You should have gave them that headlight guard I sold ya and they probably would have matched it to your frame in PC for another 10 or 15$.

Those PC guys are pretty cheap when you throw in other parts like your frame mounts and other small goodies!

Maybe you could still get it down to them? I know you drive around quite a bit.....

Cuz, I'll tell ya - Once you get back that awesome frame, your not gonna want to put any crap on it! It spreads like cancer :D

That's funny, I didn't even think of that.. I think the headlight guard matches pretty well to the plastic, so I'll probably leave it be..As far as the frame mounts for the engine go, if there is a drastic color change between them, I'll probably just paint them in black or someting, we'll see:D

Sorry, saleen, I haven't done the earlier air cooled frames yet. Maybe check the part #'s and description. They usually tell the color name.
