I have never seen anything like this before.

That half link has a cotter pin in it. Just in front of the master link. sweet! Thankfully the chain is about a half link long.
Finally getting the 200X together. Got rid of the 25" trail pros. Wal-Mart jacked up one of the wheels mounting them, so I had to repop the bead after I beat the dent out.
New rear brakes, 250R front fender, and 18" turf tamers. Its finally coming together. I have a thumb throttle coming in the mail. I still need to get the rear shock rebuilt, buy a rear taillight and pull off the Goki electric starter and replace it with the stator cover. And replace the exhaust which looks like @$$.
Heres a picture.

Wonder how I blew out the rear shock?

Its called a half link, it basicly describes itself and gives you a 'half link' when your chain is at the point where its either too long or too short to adjust correctly. I had one on a 200s before I dont really like them, it came apart on me before and left me stranded.

half links are junk: get a new chain before the half link breaks and your chain cracks your motor case

half links may not be the best, but i personally wouldnt worry about one on a 200x or smaller. In the case the chain does come off you have the stock case saver there. But if it does come off and you get away lucky without damage, I definately wouldn't trust the chain after that.

I have a half link on my 86 200x because it was just too loose. They work great if you need one but i wouldn't go out of my way to add one to a machine for the sake of doing it. Looks like thats a pretty nice running machine based on the action shot. And i can't believe you got rid of brand new trail pros. Haha i've never had a set of those but when i get a pair i'm going to try them in every terrain i can find just to see what they are all about, TC...

I like to slide, and sadly the trail pros like to tip. Makes for a whole lot of no fun. Turf Tamers are definitely more my style. Ahem, my wifes style. :-)

Might want to put the front brake over on the left side where it belongs.
Dammit!

Yeah, I was going to say... I guess Honda screwed that one up.

Sorry....Didn't realize Honda didn't have a clue as how to route a brake system.

nice 200x you got there. lets see some pics of whats in the background of the second pic.:D when the 200x breaks down you have a good backup to take out on the trails.

I thought you were talking about the big nasty GASH in the swingarm in the same picture
I've been running a halflink on my 350X for 2 years now. I'm 210lbs and beat the snot out of my 350X, no problems yet.
They are a necessary EVIL when you change sprockets yet still want some chain adjustment. Snomobile shops (I'm told) have them and they are probably a bit better made than the LOWE'S link I'm running, but it does the trick :D
Backwoods engineering? So I guess extreme driveshaft angles on a lifted Toyota truck are just fine?? J/K - I'm busting your chops.....
I got 5"s on my YO myself :)

It an 84 Toyota 4x4, Its a wheelin monster. I had been eyeballin it here local, but someone else had dibs on it. They were supposed to have the money there at 4 pm. So my wife went up there and sat for 2 hours to see if they would show up with the money. They didn't and she bought it for me for $2200. It runs great but they pulled all of the vacuum lines so it doesn't idle very good. Going to get that fixed soon.
Its the same color as the monster I had in high school. A 1980 4x4 that regularly pulled Chevys, and Fords out of the local mudhole. It was never stuck. It was stolen.

Since those pictures were taken I added about 1 1/2 inches of lift to the front with greasable shackles.
Heres a pic of toymota, the one I had in high school.

yes extreme drive shaft angles work just fine:lol: it does not bind on my 85 4runner with a 5" lift. never seperated
my 82 i used to offroad with since they have a shorter tranny the drive shaft is shorter also. it would bind under full drop. it seperated a couple times when i got high centered on a big rock pile and it started getting bad axle wrap in the front and started hopping:lol:
it was a beast off road it had 5.29 axle gears and locked front and back with 35"s and 5" lift. alot of custom body work also do to rocks and trees.
