Starting help

Hey all im new here and am new to atvs and have a couple questions. I bought a suzuki lt230 bike with a honda 185 motor in it so ive been told and have been looking it up and doing research and have found that its that. I was told all it needed to run was a cdi. So i ordered a cdi off ebay and a coil because the one on the bike was cut in half. Got the parts and hooked everything up but im not getting any spark. Now theres another part on the left side that is a chrome oval shape thats says cdi on it and im guesseing thats a pulser unit ive been told? What kinda ohms should it be reading? it was at 13 i think and when pulled jumped to 47. Any help would be much appreicated.

You've got yourself a HUGE can of worms there bud......

Your gonna need a shop manual with all the Ohm and voltage info and you'll have to trace it from there.

I'm not sure if your running EVERY 185 electrical part in there or if stuff got spliced in to the Zuki stuff.......

But, if you want to get it running don't fall into the trap where people tell you to "change this, it's the CDI, maybe the coli, kill switch, PG is bad, it's out of time" blah blah blah....

You've bought yourself and odd ball and the only way to fix it (unless you have a horseshoe in your arse) is to trace every wire and check every part with a multimeter by referring to a service manual.

OR - be like most people and buy every electrical part only to fail and part it out :D

Ya thats what ive been told lol. i took it to a suzuki dealership and they told me they had to idea what kinda motor was on it and had never seen anything like it before and said it was garbage. Then took it to a honda place after i found out what kinda motor it was and said it has hope ha. Ya i plan on getting a manuel for the honda motor. I think every electrical and motor part is honda i think ha. Ive been looking around and online alot and have been compareing things and only part that looks to be a suzuki is the frame. The guy that i bought of off he bought it from sum guy that use to ice race with it, still has ice tires. I only got it for 150 of craigslists and thought it was ok. Hopefully ill get it running and am deffinity taking your advice on getting the book and starting from there instead of buying more parts. ill try and get sum pictures of it also.

Post some pics of the engine and wiring and we should be able to help you out. Also don't buy a manual you can download them for free. Here is a Haynes that has 185s/200 info in the last chapters:
